I wish they’d have taken that stance on Roger Rabbit, Splash Mountain and the MSEP intro.

Unfortunately, or fortunately I guess pending where you land… c’est la vie doesn’t really count when it comes to corporate overlords and how they want to run their business / which properties to use. 😅

C’est la vie is for us. Ruling with an iron fist is for them.

My reason as to why Deadpool shouldn't be in DCA isn't necessarily because he is is a raunchy character, but because he has to be dumbed down from being a raunchy character. It would be like going to see George Carlin or Bob Saget do stand-up in the Disney Junior theater. In order for him to be there they have to strip him of what his character is and what makes him funny. It's like a PG-13 horror movie. Just doesn't work.

If DLP is any indication it looks like he won't be a walk-around character anyway and will be up on a building feeding people pre-recorded dialogue. This alleviates the concern that guests would try to egg him on or try and get him to say something inappropriate......or to have to find an actor that has the quick wit of the character.

Edit: Nevermind the second paragraph. Apparently he is doing some walking around.

I think he is walking around at DLP. DLP Report managed to get his autograph:

If they can have alcohol for adults they can have Deadpool.
I don't dispute serving alcohol to adults. I dispute serving Deadpool to children.

Disney used to have that same boundary but apparently they're now fine directly marketing a violent, drug-promoting, sexualized character to kids in the parks?

I've said before I'd've had no problem with a stunt show that kept him physically distanced and not directly involved with kids. It's the meet & greet with a character that is extremely adult-oriented that disappoints me.

I'll check out how it's handled when I go next and if they restrict it to an adult-only meet, I'll retract my concerns.

This is probably the best take I've seen.

And anyone that wants to meet Deadpool wants to meet Deadpool, the raunchy and irreverent character- not Deadpool dumbed down for DCA.

ETA If your kids recognize him, it may be too late to protect them from him.
That’s not the point. I wouldn’t want my kids introduced to the character. If they meet him at Disneyland and think he’s funny, they’re going to see the trailer for the movie on TV and want to see it, not realizing it isn’t for them.

Isn't that where parenting come in? You don't have to allow them to meet him or any other character.

Might they see the trailer and want to see it anyway even without meeting him? Along with other movies that are not appropriate? Again, parenting?

Lol, depends on the family. I remember hearing kids in the audience during a 10 pm showing of Kill Bill.
I would think kids would be bored or at least scared watching Kill Bill. That movie felt like a side scrolling video game like Shinobi where you keep running right and killing enemies.

Oh yeah. One very small-sounding child started screaming in terror when The Bride was in the coffin.

But I'm sure there are families where Deadpool is regular viewing. All of that juvenile humor ('Nads! Potty!) and video game violence.
