So who do you guys think is going get the rights to the inevitable Avatar ride Disney or Universal???? I know that Universal has Cameron's Terminator but who knows disney might pull something crazy!

So where do you guys think you will most likely see an avatar ride, Disney or Universal?

(I vote for disney!!!):drevil:

Without sounding like I have no faith, I will say that I don't believe Disney could pull off an Avatar ride in a way that would live up to the potential and depth of the Pandora that James Cameron spent so much time crafting. In the same way that I didn't believe Disney could (or would) put enough focus on Harry Potter, I don't believe Disney would give Avatar its due if it were to acquire the rights to the franchise for use within the parks. If there is any company I could see this one being pulled off in, it would be Universal at this point. And truthfully, I can't imagine any company pursuing a full-blown attraction based on Avatar besides a 3-D film (probably one to replace the incredible, but slowly aging T2:3D) because the amount of detail that would be expected for a faithful recreation is just beyond reasonable range (in my opinion) for any company interested in such an endeavor.

I loved Avatar and have seen it twice in IMAX 3-D, so I can't say my opinion isn't skewed, but I will say that for the reaction this film has received, any company considering to take on the franchise would have to do something major to integrate such a rich canon into the theme park world.

I get what your saying but look at what their gonna do with Star Tours a franchise that isn't even theirs!! and with John lasseter in charge the CREATIVITY IS IN THE FORFRONT!!

The only place it would fit would be in Tomorrowland. But is Avatar really Disneyish? I could see Universal doing something with it and maybe even making a rollercoaster out of it. Or even a 3-D viewing comparable to Spiderman. But is it a certainty that Avatar will turn into a ride? Titanic doesnt have anything and the sky would have been the limit to do a ride on that (although in Orlando there is an attraction called Titanic Experience which I recommend)

I don't really see this being turned into an attraction, but if it were, Universal has the track record that makes them the most believable option.

And a Titanic ride? Seriously?

I don't see WDW doing an Avatar ride. Can you imagine Avatar ride like WInnie the Pooh or Snow White? WDW is definitely not about thrill rides. They only have two and they are questionable as thrill rides now: ToT and R&RC. ToT is just a drop simulator and nothing more. This is at any traveling fair. R&RC is an induction rollercoaster. However, take out the theming and darkness of the ride, and it is a basic induction rollercoaster.

Personally, I think WDW needs to start integrating thrill rides or plan a new park that has them.

I think Universal has a much better shot if there is to be an Avatar experience. They gear their park to more thrill rides. Heck, with the profit they are making off the movie, they could open their own park and have it as the Avatar Experience. This movie is on the way to making over $3B world wide. I saw the movie in 3D at a local theater and thought was amazing. Then I saw it in Imax on Saturday. There is absolutely no comparison between a movie theater and Imax. I think Avatar will be in Imax theaters for years to come. Simply because it can never be experienced in the home like that and that it will draw crowds for a long time to come. It would not be as if they play it 6 times a day like they do now. They may have a weekend a month of Avatar only.

Hmmmm....Avatar would seem to be a good fit for the CAVE technology they have been toying with for years. Stepping into a virtual Pandora would be pretty cool.

Exactly my thought process during the movie: "This MUST be built!...Disney?!"

I'd love to see it in actual terms of sets, but like Lee said, yeah, CAVE would work amazingly well here. Perfect for the Studios.

I thought Avatar was a fantastic movie and would love to see it made into a ride, I dont care if its Universal OR Disney, I love both parks. lol

The Titanic experience is not a "ride"...you can check it out here... http://www.titanictheexperience.com/video.html Its quite amazing and to look up the person you are on the ticket can be emotional.

If Disney could get the rights to it... I could see it as a replacement for the "beastly kingdom" in Animal Kingdom... have a whole "Pandora" section with animatronic flora, a skeleton of one of the hammerhead rhinos and maybe a "soarin'" type ride over pandora in Michelle Rodriguez' chopper, narrated by either Sigorney Weaver or Rodriguez herself.

It could be a good idead but why make a whole land based on avatar it would be kinda weird ... They could have a fantasy theme and have an avatar ride with the crazy animals they show n the movie!!

What? That's ridiculous. Since when were induction rollercoasters and drop simulators not thrill rides? At WDW Mission: Space, Test Track, ToT, RRC, Star Tours, Dinosaur, EE, and even the MK mountain range would ALL qualify as thrill rides, as would they in any other theme park.

But back to the topic at hand, I absolutely hated Avatar. This was not the Cameron who gave us scifi/action classics like Aliens, T2, The Abyss, and True Lies. It was the Cameron who made Titanic, another film with awesome SFX, but flimsy characters and story. Even though I feel that way, I'm sure it would make some kind of cool thrill ride. I wouldn't see it going in WDW though...probably Uni.

I bet Universal will snatch up Avatar's theme park rights. Uni always snatches the "it" thing- which can be very good or very bad.

IMO, you can't decide that a ride should be made for a movie immediately after coming out because you don't know if it will stand the test of time. By the time they finished constructing the ride, the movie would not be the "it" thing anymore. This is kind of how I feel about Harry Potter as well...while I LOVE Harry Potter, the books have all been released and there are only two movies left to go now that it's land at IOA is finally opening. In 5 years or so will people still be interested?

There are better movies to be made into attractions, both in quality and feasibility (some movies just don't suit well for a ride), over Avatar. That's my take on it. Only reason anyone's paying attention to this movie is that a.) Cameron's only movie in a long time b.) anything to get us off Twilight.
