Avatar (the movie) and its Sequels

They have done over 6 hrs already establishing the characters and story. I think many are like me and don't really care that much. At this point would rather just get a 2 hr action packed film

Well you don’t have to watch them…. Take a bathroom break, refill your soda, stretch your legs, scroll through your phone… you will know the 2nd half will start in 15 minutes promptly…. With a countdown in the corner
Disagree on all that but it hardly matters. Major studios aren’t reintroducing intermissions anytime soon.

They could bring back the news reels
I'm on the fence about this.

While it's not a terrible idea by any means, many of us go to the movies to escape the real life drama.

Of course, one could always head to the restroom if they don't want current headlines interfering with the experience, so I dunno how to feel about this.

I got to admit, that was pretty awesome. It's pretty much the second half of the story started with Way of Water. It draws that story into a nice bow. It again was technically amazing and the story was the strongest of the three. Will it do as well as the other two movies? I don't think so.

I saw no reason to see this in 3D with a high frame rate.

I saw Fire and Ash last night in 3D to evaluate the HFR. And the use of HFR is pretty jarring, more jarring than in the Lord of the Rings movies. So in one scene you have a normal looking movie, great action, and in the next you have these high frame rate scenes that have the "soap opera" look trying to remove the motion blur, worse in my opinion than LTR. So he hasn't improve it, its still the same ugly look as it was from years ago.

He may like it and thinks it looks "natural" or whatever, but it clearly doesn't look natural or improves the visuals in my opinion. I really wish they could find a way to use diffusion filters with the HFR, that would at least make it less jarring and get rid of the "soap opera" look.

However that aside I like the movie overall. Its going to make lots of money, whether as high as the other two remains to be seen.

Some guy asked if Fire & Ash where good because he was taking his son to see it. However he said he never saw the other two movies because he thought they were stupid. He returned saying it was like an unskippable three hour cut scene. That's like seeing Return of the King and having no idea how things got to that point.

I saw Fire and Ash in Dolby 3D and didn't notice the high frame rate issue people are talking about (I DID notice it in The Way of Water).

I liked the movie, but do think it's crucial people see and remember the events of The Way of Water, as it's very much a direct continuation to that film (In the same way that Dune Part 2 is a direct continuation of the first Dune and the Two Towers immediately follows The Fellowship of the Ring).

I suspect the movie will make less than the first two at the box office, however. People who enjoyed or loved the first two films will enjoy Fire and Ash, but those who were mixed on them or didn't like them are not going to be won over at this point.
