I'm sure that they have lots of tricks up their imagineering sleeves. A small example of a floating illusion can be seen in the Mickey fountain in Hong Kong:
If there just for show it's no big deal, relatively light structures that really only have to be able to stand the weather especially wind. Probably just simple steel work with an outside skin.
To some. Or, just one....Is this a serious post?
maybe if they work like elevators? i.e. during hurricane season.. they "lower" the rocks to floor level and lock them in position."[With]standing the weather" in Florida means hurricane-proof. No amount of steel required to hold a faux mountain up in the air can be considered simple, or light. To do what they've implied will require massive structures.
Someone over on Dis-boards claimed to be in a talk that Rohde gave to employees at Animal Kingdom recently where he talked about the Avatar project. One of the things he say in the post was:
"He said they will be making Harambe much larger. It will be the size of a real African village. Apparently they need it to wrap around and meet Pandora so it will expand to the left of the Safari ride entrance if you're facing it. They will be for sure adding stores and restaurants but I don't think he mentioned additional attractions. That's not to say they won't make them, just that he didn't mention it. "
Normally I take these sorts of posts with a large grain of salt, but this would explain the second permit that was filed the same day:
774 #C Weikhe Way (near Yak and Yeti) - Africa 700 - Area Development Early Package
You can read the full post here. Everything in the post seams pretty reasonable so I am not going to be to quick to dismiss it.

Reading that Dis thread, if its true Joe Rhode is 100% on board with this, I think we should be in for something amazing.
Jimmy Thick- Fingers crossed.
That's the real question. The question is, is he 100% on board with this, or is he just towing the company line.
I just hope he gets his TPS reports in timely....That's the real question.
Jimmy Thick- Hope he is.
So based on this and leaked blueprints/construction, I imagine the Africa area would look like this...Someone over on Dis-boards claimed to be in a talk that Rohde gave to employees at Animal Kingdom recently where he talked about the Avatar project. One of the things he say in the post was:

The address is somewhat confusing, I would think that's the Flights of Wonder building. How often are addresses that far apart?Someone over on Dis-boards claimed to be in a talk that Rohde gave to employees at Animal Kingdom recently where he talked about the Avatar project. That almost sounds like working into the plot North of Asia. Here is the list of Werikhe Way addresses I have from permits for reference:
737C Werikhe Way Everest Fastpass Building
770 Werikhe Way Gibbon Temple
775 Werikhe Way Yak and Yeti
797 Werikhe Way Building 36 - Asia Tiger Yard
835 Werikhe Way KSR
868 Werikhe Way Kali Reservior
870 Werikhe Way Building 22 - Gorilla
950 Werikhe Way Animal Hospital/Buuilding 20-Gorilla
990 Werikhe Way Train Depot Maintenance
I assume they are the shops discussed. I roughly took their footprints from the following blueprint, but it was really just a wild guess based on lines in the plan. I'm no good with reading blueprints maps, etc. What are each of the buildings on your plan, and where did you get their footprints?
So based on this and leaked blueprints/construction, I imagine the area would look like this...
