How new is this video? I have never seen that interview before. As if I couldn't get anymore excited about this project. On this it is clearly stated by Landau that there is both the simulator and boat ride. Also mentions floating mountains that are. 150' tall, with emphasis on the water falls coming down from the mountains.

They also talk about how they are launching books with more stories about Pandora, along with the launch of the Cirque show - clearly working to get the public awareness going again by inserting this back into the cultural zeitgeist. A smart move on their part.

Man do we ever need some overhead shots.

Great video. Biggest thing I learned from it is that I don't think I have every actually seen James Horner. :)

Doesn't prove that at all. If there were difficulties they sure aren''t going to talk about it in a promo video.

It was either an erroneous rumor or deliberate smokescreen but I am certain it was never in jeopardy as was suggested by some due to creative differences and/or cameron being difficult. Please.

You obviously know very little about James Cameron, there is no such thing as Cameron not being difficult, even he will admit that. To believe this project went smooth from day one is just being naive.

The expansion.

That is possibly the best news out of that video. I have been praying that the Avatar music would be incorporated into this expansion. I know that a lot of people state that the story/dialogue was not good. However, most people go on to say that visually the movie was incredible. The one aspect that I feel always gets lost in the debate is the musical score. I have ways loved James Horner's music, and Avatar is no exception. I am ecstatic to hear that he is involved in this project.

It's nice to have confirmation, but personally I never doubted they would use the music.

I ve mentioned the music many times as something that sounds like it fits right into DAK

The news keeps getting better and better for this land. Music will set the mood for AvatarLand and enhance the experience for the guest. I like how they are slowly releasing information to the public. I can't wait till the D23 to see a polished presentation of the land. It would be nice to have Cameron there to give his input.
my gut says no on Cameron being there
but I would imagine Cameron and all the crew will be there for grand opening which will be at night of course:)

In DAK right now. The Avatar construction is enormous looking now on the bus ride in. I saw so many people visibly react to that on the bus. They started asking questions as to what it was so I (naturally) started telling everyone what it was and that it was opening in 2017. There were people already talking about coming back in 2 years after it opens.

do you want to become a bus driver =P

I'm sure the difficulties described are accurate, thus the many years of development hell with this project. I am happy to hear that, in the end, they were able to compromise and that we will get two rides, not just one. Of course, that, in and of itself, is a compromise on Cameron's part. He wanted 3 rides.

Whose funding this again? What about the 3rd rumored attraction on the Spirited thread yes I understand it may not be a ride but an "Experience"

It wasn't really in "development hell" for years. The development and design process took a reasonable amount of time for a project of this scale, it just seems longer because it was publicly announced before literally any work had been done on the project by WDI. Normally a project would have been 2-3 years further along before being announced.

Insiders around these parts suggest that the design phase was much messier than usual and almost led to some key players abandoning the project. If you believe our insiders. One can reasonably assume there were serious issues given how far the project fell behind Bob Iger's schedule.
