Yeah, neat, I guess. I do hope that there are future updates to come, particularly to the cars. Some type of less smelly and toxic vehicles would be nice. Maybe electric, or heck, solar-powered or water-powered. They could use the ride to advertise and kind of demonstrate the future of cars and transportation, and claim that Honda is leading that. It's reminding me of the early Epcot Center sponsorships. Sure, having a brand name attrached isn't ideal, but if it pushes the ride to passionately show and demonstrate the future, I'm on board.
Plus, it'd actually be a good long-term investment for Disney, since I believe they currently pay their Autopia workers a few extra cents per hour for dealing with the fumes. Or at least they used to. And solar-powered cars save money down the road. Helping the environment and profits at the same time, what's bad about that?
Honda sponsors Hong Kong Disneyland's Autopia, and theirs has electric vehicles. Of course it was built that way from the start, but still, I hope Honda looks to bring DL's vehicles up to that same level or even higher. A spokesperson said that there are future plans, and that that's a possibility.
Onto WDW, it's very unlikely that Honda will sponsor the speedway. First off, even if there's nothing in any agreement or contract, Disney shouldn't upset GM, their most loyal sponsor. Secondly, the attraction in Tokyo is sponsored by Ford. Side note, but it's kind of odd that the Tokyo company sponsors the US ride, and the US company sponsors the Tokyo ride. Or maybe that's not odd. Anyway, what I mean is that Honda isn't sponsoring all of them, so there's nothing to indicate that they'd sponsor MK's speedway.
Another side note, and congrats if you're still reading, but Shanghai will be the only park without this ride. I initially thought that it might be added as part of a phase 2 expansion, like it was in Hong Kong, especially because a deal was announced for GM to sponsor a ride in that park. But it turns out GM is sponsoring the Tron ride, so I guess I thought wrong.
Okay, so yeah, thanks for reading. TL;DR: Honda isn't sponsoring the ride in WDW.
