Audience Participation with a Foreign Language

So I was at the Studios around two weeks ago and I saw a showing of Lights Motors Action. In one part they find a kid to come out an drive a "remote controlled" car.

The kid they picked spoke French.

Oh the jokes that went on for the rest of the show. The kid had no idea what was going on and was very hesitant to even go on stage before the language barrier was known.

Has this ever occured elsewhere? I just find it very ironic that they bring a show from Paris over and pick a French child to participate.

It is possable for this to happen.... (don't they usually have an interpeter for some of these thigns...)

I would enjoy an ASL version of the show... (with closed Captions.. and know ewhat they are signing for those who can't read ASL fast..)

The female host/director that runs the show supposedly speaks French fluently.

That's weird.. at the showing I was at they never had a person come out of the audience and run a remote controlled car... it must have been a set up!

I definately saw the "remote controled car" scene when I saw the show at DLP about a year or so ago..

I saw the LMAX show back when it was in previews (near the end of April), and they had the remote controlled scene in it then. They picked an average american kid, and he looked pretty surprised when the scene concluded. So I am not sure I believe the kids are set-ups.

Yes, the remote controlled car is a scene in the show. Definately not a set-up. I doubt they'd have a special car made just for one day, one scene.

My mistake for not making myself clear enough about a new show.

The car used in the Remote Control scene is exclusive to that scene. The actual real driver of the car is attached to the side of the car not visible to the audience. The kid selected is guided by the host's help to either push up or back on the remote control.

The host for that day, nor the rest of the other actors, had neither a lick nor a taste of French. I doubt that there are any hosts currently that speak fluent French as most are or were previously in hosting rotation for the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire show.

The introduction is the only portion of the show that is in French. I'm a singer and I read music all the time that is in a variety of different languages. Singers, like actors, can easily memorize a foreign language passage. My old high school drama teacher opens up each of her Drama I classes in French and has French I written on the board to confuse her students. A similar set up is used at LMA. I'm surprised my drama teacher hasn't sued anyone yet...

Realted to this but not really: in the 90s, they used to have Brazilian Nights at the Studios. Indy and other attractions would be dubbed or subtitled in Portuguese for the big Brazilian groups, and there were stages playing Brazilian music throughout the park. Don't know if they still do that though.

Hey Dolbyman, the price of a gallon is over $10 at the current exchange rate here in the UK!!

I always laugh when we go over to the US, where a litre of mineral water costs more than a litre of petrol (gas)!!

They've been in the show for a few weeks now.
