i agree, BUT no matter how good a point you may make, grixx, i can no longer take you seriously. every time i read anything you type, it just sounds like K.O.T.

Ehhh... no worse than Food Rocks. Exchanging one mediore attraction that only fits loosly with theming with a better attraction that still only fits loosly with theming is at least some progress. :p

I disagree. While it is Fantasy, I would have to say because it is at heart Science Fiction, it doesn't belong in Fantasyland. It belongs more in Discoveryland (which MK, of course, does not have) or a sort of Discovery Bay themed area. IMO, it would be like putting Splash Mountain into Fantasyland. Sure, it has Disney characters in it and it's fanciful (moreso than 20K actually), but it clashes horribly with the rest of the land which has more of a European villiage/ fair motief.

I totally agree!:sohappy: 20k was way out of place because it was too science fiction type. The only type of attractions that would fit in Fantaseyland are: if it takes place in London or anywhere else in England in the past, has magic in it unlike 20k, has a totally new magical faraway undiscovered enviroment ( like neverland or wonderland. Fantaseyland doesn't hve to have cartoons in it. I remember in another thread the idea of putting in a Mary Poppins ride and it would fit perfectly in Fantaseyland.

Well, I atleast hope that it isn't called Soarin over California. I'd rather have "Soarin over the Land". I still hope that it turns into an aviation pavilion with Soarin Over the World.

won't it be called just "Soarin'" or something? I still think it's hysterical that it's going into The Land, tho, with the apparent excuse that, well, California is on land. =)

but yeah, at least we'll have it. it's a beautiful, inspiring attraction.

Can someone help me here though...

If all the rumor is that it's going to be attached to the Land, then why is the majority of the serious construction all happening behind Journey?

Peeked behind "the wall" last week and the crane is moving steel, etc. all behind Journey pavillion!:veryconfu

actually, the part about it being part of the land pavillion is one not rumor, but officially confirmed fact, as stated in the official release about the attraction.

Soarin’ Attraction Lands at Epcot

The popular “Soarin’ Over California†attraction at Disney’s California Adventure will take Walt Disney World guests on an eye-filling journey when it opens at Epcot in 2005.

The new attraction sends guests on a sweeping flyover above the wondrous Golden State for a birds-eye view of the rich landscape and topography. “Soarin’ Over California†will be the newest addition to The Land pavilion at Epcot, complementing the popular pavilion’s agriculture and ecology theme.

The unforgettable experience combines cinematic artistry and state-of-the-art motion base technology. Guests are literally lifted 40 feet inside a giant projection screen dome and completely surrounded with the beauty and wonder of the state of California as their elevated theater seats take them on a scenic tour over the Golden Gate Bridge, the Redwood forests, Napa Valley, Yosemite and more. The free-flight experience intensifies as guests feel the sweeping winds and smell fragrant orange blossoms and pine trees around them.

A lot of the construction is here behind Imagination..but it connects to the Land through Food Rocks. (Photo courtesy of DisneyInformer.com). Also, there is more than likely not a roller coaster going in...but something connecting the Living Seas and the Land. A link to that info is in my signature.

Splash Mountain. I like the ride, but the film it's based on was set in Georgia I believe. And it's next to the Southwestern-themed Big Thunder. Sure, it may have been the frontier at one point, but not during the time of the movie.
Indy Speedway - Yes, in the future, small children will travel to preschool and daycare in their very own race car! Now, if they had built it with WEDway peoplemover technology and replaced the race cars with TRON Lightcycles or Akira motorcycles you'd have something.

The thing with Splash Mountain is where else do you put it? They wanted the ride at MK and Frontierland fits better than any other place I can think of. Plus it is next to another thrill ride there. The same reason they put TOT and RNRcoaster side by side at MGM.

I think I read somewhere that Rock n Roller Coaster was placed next to Tower of Terror so they could share the same power source, as both require a lot of juice and it is cheaper to share the same power plant than build a new one elsewhere.
