Attractions on the chopping block and the third park

I was just talking about this with a co-worker. We picked Innoventions and Autopia to get the boot for the Tomorrowland revamp. I wouldn't have guessed the Subs might possibly get chopped, too. Not that I'd mind seeing it go, it's an attraction that could have been so much more.

DCA's higher attendance is wonderful, especially because even with the higher numbers, the park doesn't feel super packed. It's really nice. And I like how DL is getting a break from the high attendance numbers. It makes me wish I had some time to play in the parks so I could enjoy the shorter wait times!

I'm not a fan of bringing Marvel to the parks, so I don't like the idea of our 3rd park being all Marvel. And the way Al described it as being very thrill ride centered makes me think of Universal Orlando, which I don't see as Disney at all. But they are definitely going to have to fix parking for guests and CMs before starting any work on the 3rd park.

I don't mind Innoventions going. I love Autopia but if it's gotta go then it's gotta go. I haven't even ridden Nemo, as I've never really had the desire.

I'm very happy to hear about DCA too! I wish I could visit the parks more often too. I'm not too excited about our third being all Marvel either but I am anxious to see what they've come up with so far. I'm sure it's not bad and if it looks good then I'll be excited. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I believe one of the insiders (Lee? Martin?) Hinted at a few fast tracked projects for Disneyland. This wold seem to dovetail with that.

While I think a third park at Dinseyland Resort would be cool, I REALLY don't like the sound of it...a completely Marvel themed thrill park? I love thrill rides, but an ENTIRE PARK devoted to the Marvel characters just sounds like too much.

Please tell me that Disneyland isn't going to tear down three attractions for a M&G?

But, you know, I could see TDO doing that.
No, TDA will probably do amazing things with that much space. One of the things I was so impressed with on our recent trip was the vast number of attractions they put in a small space compared to TDO.....

I was actually referring to WDW for the vast Meet and Greet. Lol.

I'm very disappointed that the Autopia may be getting scrapped, if for no other reason than for the fact that it's been around since day one.

Yeah, same here. I really do like that ride, unlike a lot of people. Apparently the space in which Autopia takes up is bigger than all of Fantasyland. And Disneyland's contract with Chevron just ended. I wonder if the possible ax has anything to do with that?

Innoventions is just.... sad =/ There's really nothing cool in there and to me it's just a big empty I-miss-you-carousel-of-progress. They could do SO much more with that space.

I'm indifferent to Autopia as an adult (if on the side of not liking it due to the smell/noise), but I can see people with kids missing it if it goes.

I really love Nemo =( It's just sooo inefficient! And it's still pretty new o_o

Autopia is much better than wdws version

And neither of them are going anywhere ... while many fanbois look at them as 'valuable real estate' the fact is they are a rite of passage and kids love them. There's a reason why they wind up in each and every MK park.

Sadly.
MK's is nothing but a joke. I find go kart rides and car rides at Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks that are just as well themed if not better...while 40 years ago it might have been acceptable, Indy Speedway is an ugly trash heap of a ride today.

Especially with Honda really wanting to sponsor that attraction. Talk about associating yourself with your future customers! Any time frame on the conversion to electric motors?

I think that replacing the engines with electric versions will mark the beginning of the end for the speedway.

The noise of the attraction is part of the appeal to the children.

A bunch of quiet electric cars going around a track will just become another omnimover with no scenery.

Pardon my ignorance, but is a 3rd park definitely happening?

I don't think so, but apparently WDI has been designing our third park, specifically Marvel themed. Everyone wants to make sure DCA continues to do well, before the third gate gets a go. If we do get the Marvel park, I'm sure we'd see it within a decade.
