Attractions on the chopping block and the third park

I think that replacing the engines with electric versions will mark the beginning of the end for the speedway.

The noise of the attraction is part of the appeal to the children.

A bunch of quiet electric cars going around a track will just become another omnimover with no scenery.
I think that we're going to have to agree to disagree here. The central appeal of the Autopia/Speedway attractions for kids worldwide is the feeling of independence and responsibility they feel when driving. It's one of the few things that they cannot do and it remains so exciting and elusive(up until you're 18 and stuck in traffic :)). Recall when you were a kid, wasn't there just something special about getting to drive a car? Sure, you're not really driving, but it feels so real and special when you're a kid. Electric vehicles won't change that.

The Autopia cars at Hong Kong Disneyland use sound effects to make up for the lack of an internal combustion engine.

But electric cars will NOT have the same effect. There is something to be said about the noise and the smell in it's appeal.

i don't think a marvel centric park would help business all across the board in anaheim. there was a big period in my pre-teens all the way through my first years in college where i assumed disney parks would be too kid-centric for me to be able to enjoy. thanks to my 7 year old nephew and a trip to orlando last summer, i know better. i think a park that features more thrill rides would make it a gateway for ppl who were like me to check out the more traditional disney parks. i think though that making it marvel only would be a mistake. make it a big part of the park, yes, but marvel only... it's kind of limiting. i really want to see what TDI can do with the marvel franchise. IoA didn't really do it for me outside of spider-man. the hulk coaster isn't all that remarkable a ride to me, and dr. doom free fall is a sad sad experience that only exposes you to the dingy roofs of buildings surrounding the ride. i know in the right hands something so much more can be done than what was done in IoA

Yes, but that's what sound design is for! I am sure they can make the cars as noisy as they are now even with an electric motor. They might even be able to find a noise level that satisfies the kids but is less annoying than what it is now.

ETA: Ok, I see now that Hong Kong already does that.

I always thought they should add a water park here =( Maybe there aren't enough warm days in the year to warrant that?

Didn't the subs have a higher capacity before the ride was made longer? Can't they just make the ride shorter again? I'm all for changing the theme, but I'd hate to see the subs go away (again, and for good this time!), unless the replacement is truly amazing.
