attention virgins!

Good news for those in the UK who had booked up at the Carribean Beach during the rehab. Ive spoken to our Virgin Holidays rep this morning, and she advised she can upgrade us to The Polynesian or Animal Kingdom Lodge, with the best views on offer, for a total of £311 per room for 14 nights. Sounds like a fantastic deal to me - we get to stay at a deluxe resort for a fraction of the cost!! If anyone else is in the same boat, dont forget to speak to the reps - the letter form Virgin just refers to a straight switch to Coranado or Port Orleans.
Course the question now is - which resort do we chose? Anybody stayed at either (or both to compare) recently? My guidebook to the hotels is at home, and I need to make the booking today!

ps upgrades also to wilderness lodge for £144 per room for 14 nights! how cool is that!

Congratulations on getting such a great upgrade.

Your hotel is a matter of personal preference.

If the idea of giraffes watching you on your balcony is exciting, then AKL is for you.

The Polynesian has the largest rooms and is the 2nd most expensive of the deluxes (only Grand Flo is more).

WL is simply lovely and very restful.

You can find lots of pictures and maps at

I would go for the Polynesian simply because it is a fabulous rate, and it would probably be my only chance to stay there.

Regular (i.e., rack) rates are

AKL
value season $204
regular season $239
peak season $284
holiday season $319

Polynesian
$299
$334
$394
$459

WL
$194
$229
$274
$309

I think I have to agree with you yellowshoes - it may be years before we can get a deal like this again. And of course, we got married at Polynesian so its particulaly special...

We got upgraded for free with Virgin. I was staying at PO and when they closed it after last Sept 11th. Virgin moved us to the Dolphin for free. It should have cost us and extra £400 each.
It seemed crazy to me because PO is now open again and I'm not going until Sept 13th. Not complaining though because I now get to stay in Five star hotel at no extra cost.

Having said all that I'd rather stay at AKL.

I still don't see why you should have to pay when it's Disney's fault! But that could be me just being a tight fisted yorkshire man.

Given that deal, it's a massive break at each of those resorts...that's like...$40/night, right? I'd go to Animal Kingdom Lodge if you've never been. A further question to ask, will they let you switch resorts mid-vacation? I mean...would they let you spend a week at Poly and a week at AKL? That would be an amazing trip...

akl is obviously very tempting, but we have now plumbed for the polynesian - its going to be SOOO cool to be on the monorail, let alone with a lagoon view!
I have no idea if Virgin let you do twin resort breaks - to be honest I dont think Id enjoy the upheval - the time passes so quickly anyway!
Im a yorkshireman too, juggler, although havent lived there in donkeys
born in holmefirth
kind of the polar opposite of the polynesian resort, WDW!!

Fantastic news Mark, when we stayed for three weeks at the Cont with Virgin, we asked could we spend a few days at the Poly as we where getting a bit sick of the Cont:animwink:

But because we had no complaints about the resort, they offered to move us for an extra $100 per night, needless to say with the amount of money we had already spent on accomodation we stayed in the Cont, but at least it's given us another reason to go back:animwink:

I just had to add a funny note in here that I was surprised to see a thread in WDWMAGIC called "attention virgins!" I had no idea what the thread was about before going in. Makes sense now but kinda humourous when passing it by in the forum!

I just had to laugh, when I looked that is there was 9 posts and 471 views. I guess a interesting tittle can make people curious enough to take another look.

I wonder what our American friends would make of the Virgin Holiday brochure "Special Features" sections with such titles as FREQUENT VIRGINS, VIRGIN PROMISE and my personal favourite, the SINGLE PARENT VIRGIN. The latter being a very small group, just one person called Mary!

I'm personally a "Frequent Virgin"!! OOOW, EEER MRS!
