Aside from a silly beginning, it looks great.

Simon Pegg's one moment in the trailer = PRICELESS.
:sohappy:

Plus the alarm sound.

I have to admit, I went to see Quantum of Solace at midnight on Thursday, primarily to see the new Star Trek trailer. I was blown away! By Star Trek, not so much by Bond. Every single second of that trailer was pure gold.

I am a bit torn. From a design standpoint it should look somewhere between the NX-01 Enterprise and the NCC-1701 used in the original series. To me it looks like it would fall somewhere between the NCC-1701A and NCC-1701B. Regardless of that it still looks pretty freakin cool.

Master Yoda, I think you hit the nail on the head. The ship looks phenomenal, but it doesn't fit in with the era the film is placed in the Star Trek universe in my opinion. It still looks great though.

I am more of ST:TNG fan myself, but I am really excited about the film. I just hope I am not let down...from the trailer it looks like I won't be! :D

Here is a link to a great article giving a detailed description of 25 minutes of footage of Star Trek 11 shown in New York last night.

WARNING!!!!! THERE BE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!

Sadly, the guy that wrote that didn't follow the preview very well. He got about 60% of it dead wrong. There are a couple of blogs out there from folks that give a far bettter explanation.

Any links?

Here is one...note the difference in what is described in scene 3 (At first, it had Scotty's first name as "Maxillian"...but they have revised that. I hate to sound nerdish, but the guy from Coming Soon makes it sould like Scotty is inventing the transporter, but that is clearly not the case. Scotty is working on a way to transport while in warp drive

The thing that kills me....By their own admission neither of the authors could be classified as more than a casual fan. I would love to hear the thoughts from someone who saw the footage and would know such things as why the Kilngons in the original series do not have cranial ridges or can that tell you what the shield harmonics settings were on the Enterprise D when it orbited Veridian 3.
