I am going on a family vacation for the first time in a while. It is very important to my mother that i go with them for nostalgic reasons.
However my girlfriend of 3 years and soon to be fiance' is having her birthday while i will be gone..
What is the best souvenier I could bring her...????

What would you like if you were in this situation

obviously not just a t-shirt :hammer:

I know I am not a lady, but I have an idea. Why not ask her to come along? I'm sure you already thought of that, but I thought I would throw it out there. My girlfriend loved it when we invited her to go with us on our last family vacation.

if inviting her along is not an option...might i suggest a Tiara from Cinderella's castle...not the little plastic things either. They have some very nice metal ones for a very reasonable price (approx. $20) and they are really cute. Couple that with one of those roses that light up and WOOOO BOY!!!!! you'll be scoring MAJOR points with the girlfriend...at least it worked (and is STILL working) for me. Works especially well if you refer to yourself as "her servant" when you give her the tiara or make some comment about what a beautiful princess she is.....

No, no, no..... listen to ME! :D ;)

My boyfriend gave me the best gift ever and makes me cry every time I remember it and see it. ;-)
Get her a LOVE SPOON from the UK Pavillion. They are typical from Wales. Mine is made of wood and has three carvings: a heart meaning "my heart is yours"; a wheel that means "willingness to work for a loved one" and a pair of bells meaning "marriage". You can pick what you want to say with it.

I guarantee you, you will make her very happy with that! :)

Maybe give her something really cheesy, like a keychain with her name on it. But then show her your "souvenir picture" the one they take in front of the castle with you on one knee with a sign that says "will you be my princess" or will you marry me"? or you can just tell her the picture is her present. Or you can give her an empty frame and tell her I Have just the picture for you to put in it??? Just an idea? :)

You can also buy some real french perfume in the French Pavillion, or a doll made by yourself at the German Pavillion. If you know her ring size, get her a silver one with her name (or yours and hers) carved on it. There is a little booth at the Mexican Pavillion and another one in Downtown Disney. ;)

You wanna know how I'd feel? I would be madder 'en hell! If my steady boyfriend, soon to be fiance went away without me on my birthday, I'd be p1ssed!!!!!!!! MAJORLY! No gift would fix it. Better have a dern good reason fer leavin' her home!!! Come to think of it, why didn't your parents invite her along? Don't they realize how serious this is?????

you know ..if you are gonna ask her to marry you ..you really should be taking her along :) but as to the glass slipper .. you could use it when you ask by putting the ring inside it

Hey girls... calm down... ;)

He clearly said: "I am going on a family vacation for the first time in a while. It is very important to my mother that i go with them for nostalgic reasons. "

It is a family vacation that they haven´t taken in a good while. As I understood, it´s a parents-kids thing. Nostalgic reasons is the key word. Although she is practically part of the family now, she is not blood related and wasn´t part of their vacations before. I´m sure there will be pleeeenty of opportunities for her to join them in many other trips. Please your mom now! ;) I´m sure your girlfriend understands it. ;)

Uh-uh! Once you are in a serious relationship that is going to be a marriage, you can't just "cut out" the girlfriend/fiancee/wife whenever you don't want to include her in the family thing. If my son were getting ready to propose (MARRY!) his girlfriend, then she would be my daughter. It's been THREE years!! Blood or no blood. My son and his girl are one. He is not a child anymore, so the nostalgic mom, dad and kids vacations are over. He is a grown up soon to have a family of his own. Every Christmas, birthday, Thanksgiving, etc. She will be there. Mom needs to get used to it! No "one last.." IMO. If I were the girlfirend, I would smell trouble (read: Mama's boy).

If you know who her favorite character is, you could make a small sign with a happy birthday message and take a picture of that character holding the sign.

STOP reading my mind, Tink! That was my very first thought. It would be a great keepsake.

The glass slipper is perfectly themed....the Prince returning home with the lady's slipper....and they lived happily ever after.... (at least ya got a 50/50 shot at it.)

I have to agree with tink and 2much2. That is like a punch in the stomach. Hey "insert girlfriends name here", I am going away with my family to have one last trip before I begin my life with you"(implying that she is not part of their life now). Like what they will have in the future won't compare with the past??? If it is for financial reasons I can understand. But If i were the gf I would feel a little jaded.

Live in the present and dream about the future. Sure think about the past and cherish the memories, but don't try to relive it, by not including the people who are important in your life now.

(ths happy post is turning kind of sad :( )

Well... if I were the girlfriend and my mother in law wanted a trip for nostalgic reasons only with her sons, I wouldn´t be that hurt, and I would understand. Anything to please the mom..... at least for now...:goodnevil ;)
