Please, please correct me if I'm wrong. Some characters are also character attendant captains. However, they are from the old school when you could be both and have been grandfathered in. If I'm not mistaken, you can no longer be both. Again, please correct me if I'm wrong.

You can not be cross trained. They only way you would be able to be an attendent is if you were to be sub captain or captained trained.

you also can if you are a trainer, and as gorjus mentioned, if you were grandfathered in. I also think that if you work as an attendant first, and the later audition and get into the character side, you can still pick up shifts as an attendant
