Attendance during and after WAR

What does everyone think about President Bush's speech about going to war in 48 hours. Do you think that park attendence will drop even more than it has in the past few months, especially since they just raised the terror alert to Orange.

Park attendance will PLUMMET - only those capable of driving to WDW will attend as the majority of those flying will be put off after 9/11 and possible repeats.

Our trip is scheduled to begin in 17 days. We're staying on Disney property for a week and a half and flying there out of JFK (in NY). I had a brief moment where I considered possibly holding off on our trip, but then decided that I wasn't going to let fear run our lives, and there's no place I'd rather be than in Disney World!

No really guys, lets not talk about this stuff again.

I am sorry that you may feel we are stifling your questions, but this topic doesn't stay on topic. It leads to walking on eggshells and bitterness. We here at magic are just as diverse at the people who go to WDW everyday. Not all of us are American, and we will have different viewpoints of how things should be or will turn out or whatever.

If you have a question like that, PM a credible member and ask. :D It will save a lot of time and wasted political nonsense. Besides, this IS a disney forum. Everyone should be sublimely happy. :p

Have a wonderful day everyone!!

HERE HERE!!! I couldn't have said it better myself!

Well I certainly wasn't trying to feed into the conversation with my first post. I was trying to bring the focus BACK to Disney by stating that we're still following through with our Disney plans. Although I felt the same about the other thread about the war being inapporopriate for the Disney forum, there IS this little thing called freedom of speech. So when it started to annoy or distress me, I just stopped reading that thread and moved on to something more positive and Disney focussed. I agree that there is a place and time for everything and people should be free to voice their opinions, but perhaps this topic would belong on a different message board. Until then, I suggest that those of us who don't choose to read about the topic, skip the thread!

I missed the thread that got out of hand -- though I can imagine how heated it got -- but I would like to read some informed responses to the second question.

There have been so many mixed and conflicting messages about park attendance recently, I would like to read the most up-to-date information on the topic before my upcoming trip.

I can't imagine that a significant percentage of people who, like me, have had their Disney plans set well in advance, would suddenly cancel because of the war with Iraq. The U.S. would have to be at war with the City of Orlando for me to cancel my trip to WDW.
