So a co-worker just got back from WDW and she said it was seriously like getting swarmed the second you walked out of the resort. I am now so excited to get down to Disney in 2 weeks from today. :brick: But what this post is about is how do you deal with the Love Bugs of Summer... I will def. not let this damper my spirits.

Two words......Flame Thrower.

There is nothing you can do to prepare for them. Repellents are useless you simply have to deal with them. The good thing is that they are complete harmless. They do not bite or sting and they carry no diseases so there is no logical reason to be afraid of them.

You ignore them. I'd be more annoyed by the number of people bumping strollers into my ankles than the love bugs.

Don't despair - love bugs only come out for a few weeks then they're gone, soon to be replaced by millions of cockroach-like creatures and mosquitoes.

And here I was commenting the other day on how few lovebugs I've seen around. I was at the parks yesterday and didn't notice a single one. They are hardly a nuisance, especially in comparison to previous years.

I just loooove me some love bugs. Every year we get these threads!

I love when I sit on them by accident in my yard chairs. And when they make it inside my house...which happens. OH and when they land in my drink when I am outside enjoying the 100 degree weather.

:lookaroun OK, I don't love that.

I really like the flame thrower idea.....got a blueprint or a diagram? :sohappy:

Just do a Google search. It's amazing what you can find on the internet*

Love your disclaimer!

Maybe it's worse around some of the resorts, but I was just there Sunday and I didn't see any in the parks. We hit a patch of them on I4 around the Fantasy of Flight area (about 20-odd miles south-west of WDW.) Before and after that though, no real issues.

You can always capture some and throw some chocolate on em and eat them. That way you can feel like your getting revenge.

You'll be there in two weeks? They'll be gone. I'd rather deal with them than the heat and mosquitos.

If you think love bugs are bad, you should witness the ciccadas in D.C. It has been my experience that the love bugs are not that bad. It seems to be a minor annoyance. The worst part is cleaning them from your windshield, as hemloc pointed out.

Thanks to all the helpful incite. I personally am fine with the lil buggers as i live in IL and we love us some ciccadas... so this will be a walk in the park. My Co-worker said it was the worst by the pools. So i am not letting this get to me i was just wondering if she was all talk or this was the real deal going on the way she said... but all things seem like this will be a great trip despite the 100 degree weather... but when u have an 80 degree day here in IL one day so far then the next day it 50degrees... a steady 100 doesnt look so bad as i love consistency....

And StingraySam i was waiting til that post was going to be made. TOUCHÈ my friend TOUCHÈ

At least you can get some mild amusement from the sound, then the crunching of them in the yards. :)
