Atlanta Braves Plan to Leave Disney for New Spring Training

For what it's worth the braves still have signs and adverts at Turner Field for the fantasy baseball camp next year @ disney. Saw them tonight, so (i obviously am not an insider) from the looks of it they will be there next year....at least to some extent

I wouldn't be surprised if the Rays relocate to Montreal to bring back the Expos. Disney would be the perfect place for their Spring Training facility, considering they have the Canada pavilion in EPCOT.

There is talk of it but I sure hope they dont. I have a lot riding on them being in tampa/st. Pete for the next few years at least.

I think it would be best for them to actually be in Tampa though.

As far as the Braves moving, yup its sad. Not one of the clubs I cover but I do some work for a few spring training facilities every year and it's a shame to see them spread out onto the coasts even more than they are.

All I know is the Kansas City Royals used to have boardwalk and baseball in Haines city. There's a target and a Best Buy there now…

They were never leaving before next season. It's 2-3 years out.

In all honesty, would it hurt anyone's feelings if WWOS went the way of the Disney Institute and was just cleared for something else? If the NBA takes over DisneyQuest, it seems unlikely. However, it seems like in the late 90s, WDW went through a pretty tremendous expansion where most projects haven't panned out.

The WWOS complex seems to bring in a ton of money via youth tourneys. I doubt it ever goes away. In that regard it is unlike DisneyQuest. However, the loss of the Braves isn't something I can can quantify. It's not a simple "well just replace them with a better team" fix. No team is coming due to the lack of other teams to scrimmage against. If WWOS could hold two teams (which it can't right now) that would have worked.

For now I just think they will continue as is and deal with it later. Besides paying the Braves a lot of money to deal with the inconveniences, I'm at a loss at what Disney will do with that stadium.
