I dont think they were braces. He just had really gross teath.

On a side note. The song they were singing in the opening scene, is that an old song, or something they created for the movie?

Song: Hoist The Colors

Lyrics:

Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the colors high.
Heave ho,
thieves and beggars,
never shall we die.

The king and his men
stole the queen from her bed
and bound her in her Bones.
The seas be ours
and by the powers
where we will we'll roam.

Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the colors high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
never say we die.

Some men have died
and some are alive
and others sail on the sea
– with the keys to the cage...
and the Devil to pay
we lay to Fiddler's Green!

The bell has been raised
from it's watery grave...
Do you hear it's sepulchral tone?
We are a call to all,
pay head the squall
and turn your sail toward home!

Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the colors high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
never say we die

Just found this....

Hoist the Colours

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Hoist the Colours" is a song in the feature film Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. It was composed by Hans Zimmer, and appears as track one on the film's soundtrack, at 1:31 in length. The melody is used as a theme throughout the film.
This song was played in the beginning/opening scene of the movie, where a young cabin boy associated with piracy sang it, waiting to be hanged. All the pirates then started to join in. It is then reprised by Elizabeth Swann when she enters the Singapore waterways via canoe to meet with Barbossa.
In the film, "Hoist the Colours" is known among the pirates of the world and refers to what occurred at the first meeting of the Brethren Court. The song spreads the message throughout the Pirate world that a meeting for the "Brethren of the Coast" must be called. The song seems to somehow resonate through pieces of eight, as seen when Sao Feng holds a piece of eight by his ear when Barbossa gave it to him.
It likely refers to the binding of Calypso in human form by the Brethren Court in order to control her powers.
The melody of the song's chorus is incorporated in a number of musical pieces played throughout the film, including a full orchestral version played during the climactic battle between the Flying Dutchman and the Black Pearl.

This is my interpretation of "Hoist the Colours"
"The King and his men stole the queen from her bed".
This refers to Davy Jones (probably once King of the Brethern Court) and the men (Bretheren Court) stole the queen (the goddess Calypso before turned human) from her bed (probably the place where she was before turned human).

"And bound her in her bones" refers to the binding her as a human.

"The seas be ours and by the powers, where we will, will roam" This probably means that the Pirates will always have eventual ownage of the seas, because of the powers of Calypso.

"Yoho, altogether, hoist the colours high, heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die" probably refers to the fact that Pirates are the outsiders and that they will always be the rag-tag group law-breaking outsiders.

I'll interpret the rest tomorrow. :p

And for the record, the song was written by Ted and Terry, the writers for Pirates, made especially for this film.

lol, i can't believe someone pay close attention to the boy's teeth to notice braces! i guess the director thought it was quite unnoticeable.

i don't know if i should congrats you on the spot or call you a POTC nerd (but being a nerd is ok b/c everyone a nerd at something. (eg myself, band nerd, star wars and trekkie nerd.)

sorry to correct, but POTCwiki says the pirate king and his men bonded her. they just got help from Mr. Jones on how to do it.

Yeah, the kid's teeth are just dirty. A lot of people have suspected him of wearing braces.

BTW, I'm pretty sure that the lyrics are "all together" not "haul together."

Brendyn Bell is his name but only could find 3 pictures and none with him smiling with a open mouth. Ill figure this out if it kills me :brick: , because on a few sites they said that he does in real life wear braces.

I think you guys are ignoring the obvious. Its a MOVIE, with ACTORS. Yeah, the kid has braces, but he probably nailed the singing audition so he got the part nonetheless. They tried to cover them up with dirt (or dirt-like makeup), but you could still see them poking through.
I noticed them too, but I'm amazed at all the internet sites with people freaking out about it. Its a movie, there are always mistakes in movies (there's a dang car visible in Lord of the Rings), who cares?

Maybe they'll digitally remove them for the DVD for all the nitpickers out there (that's actually what happened to the LotR car).

Because movie mistakes are funny. Like the kid wearing a Swatch watch in "Glory". I suppose the only bigger waste of time than worrying about whether or not they are braces is posting in this thread if you don't care.

I was watching Braveheart the other night and noticed that in one of the charging scenes William Wallace started out running with his sword, then they panned away, and when they panned back during the same charge, he was carryinig a bigh battle hammer ( I think, maybe an axe or pick), then they panned away and then back, and he was back to carrying his sword.

There is also a scene in Oceans 11 where a character is standing in the casino eating a shrimp cocktail out of a martini glass, they pan to another character and then back and they are holding an empty plate, then pan away and back and its a martini glass again....
