So an Old friend contacted me and asked If I could offer any advice .

She moved to the west coast with her husband and little girl for a Job year ago and was informed by her family back here that they decided to do Disney for Xmas this year....

Shes asked for any info I could offer about Wdw for Xmas week....I told her,

#1 Shes was too close to the trip to be able to get the Better/more desirable dining experiences.

#2 The Crowds would be insane

#3 Most expensive time to travel to the World

#4 The Parks, hotels and all of WDW is incredibly beautiful that time of year

#5 Mvmcp is expensive but worth it.

#6 The weather is pretty great if you like sweatshirts and Jeans

#7 The Osbourne Lights are a MUST do if the decide to go.

#8 may have a hard time getting the Hotel/rooms she might like.

I just heard back from her and it seems that they decided not to go. The info I passed along made her family take a look and do a little more research and It just didnt seem worth it to them.

I feel awful that they arent going But I think I was unbiased and offered a fair assessment of the situation.

Ever get asked for advise about Wdw and feel bad about it afterward??

No it was fair, but, it didn't paint a complete picture unless you included a few more things.

#1 They aren't that close to the date unless they aren't planning on booking right away and there is an alternative....Stay off site.

#2 I agree, nothing more to add.

#3 Agree again! But again...off site is less expensive and an option.

#4 They are very nice...however the parks look the same even if you don't stay on site. There are no decorations in your rooms so you can still visit the lobby's if your like.

#5 MVMCP is nice, but I would debate whether it was worth it or not. A nice extra though.

#6 I have been there in December, Early January and February...and only found the need for a light weight jacket (wind breaker). Still wore shorts and T's most of the time as it usually warmed up during the day and got a little cooler at night. It can get a tad on the chilly side though, so advice to have that stuff with them is good.

#7 It's looking more and more like this may be the last time that the Osbourne lights will be there. If the rumors of the DHS expansion are true...they could be gone by next year.

#8 I think it is still early enough to get whatever hotel accommodations that they might want either onsite or offsite. Especially this year...it looks like attendance is not as strong as expected.

I've had a number of people ask me about Disney at Christmas. If it is before Christmas and after New Years it is usually doable. However, very few of those that haven't been before know just how busy it is on Christmas and New Years. They all think that it will be light because so many will be staying home for the holidays. Sadly, for the travelers, that isn't true, so the heads up on the crowds is a very, very good one.

Your advice seems honest. Better that they know what they would be getting into. I understand why you feel bad, but you don't have to.

Your advice seemed fine. While Christmas time is a wonderful time at WDW, the week leading up to and the week of Christmas tends to bring out horrible crowds and pricey hotel fees/etc.

It will be crowded but is certainly worth it to be at Disney that time of year.Be careful if going to MK as the park can close early due to capacity issues. Excellent time for decorations and extended hours. Do not let the crowds bother them and just plan plan plan ahead!

I get asked advice all the time... Only time I feel bad about it is when they don't follow it. Try convincing them to go, even with the parks busier, rooms harder to book, it's worth the trip. They just have to adjust their plan to attack the parks to deal with more competition for the attractions.

#1 is really debatable. So often I have gotten reservations last minute it seems without trying very hard for what are considered popular dining experiences. It really is just luck of the draw.

Have to disagree with # 5
The Halloween party offers more bang for the same extra buck, while allowing everyone the opportunity to dress up. This is of course all opinionated though

I think the advice was great. Christmas week will be insane!!! I wouldn't want to spend my vaca on line waits and crowd fighting. Ughhh
