Oops reply fail. Call me out....
I'm guessing you are watching this thread? Did I spell question right?
By the way Slappy, you are a smartass!
Well, I was reading the forum whilst rocking my kid to sleep, and as you responded I'd get an alert to that fact, so it's not like I needed to make any sort of effort to find out how silly you can get.I'm guessing you are watching this thread? Did I spell question right?
Are you the one that teaches those kids all those chants they do in the pre-show preventing others from hearing what Disney painstakingly worked on to entertain us?Sorry, didn't know you taught English. I'm a Brazilian tour group leader, so excuse my butchery of your language. I was just wondering, and got my answer.
Last thing I wanted to do was offend Slappy Magoo!

Are you the one that teaches them to sit in the middle of the row when they are asked to move all the way to the end?
Are you the one that teaches them selective understanding of the English language and how to line jump with 40 others while one member waits in line?
I told my wife the same thing - why would someone who takes tour groups from Brazil to WDW all the time need DVC? But as I always tell non-DVC members who like to talk trash, it's nobody's business what other people do with their money if it makes them happy as long as it's legal.Hard for me to believe a Brazilian tour group leader guy, also owns DVC. Me thinks we've been trolled.
Exactly. If someone wants free dining that much, do the math and if it seems like free dining is a better deal, bank your points and use them next year. For four people all 10 and over that can be worthwhile. What DVC affords members is an opportunity to get a good discount on lodging without waiting for a promotion and then hoping you can go during the eligibility period and get the deal before it runs out.
Of course, one would assume that if someone was in the market for a Disney trip, that person might choose a "free dining" option over renting DVC points. But that's not necessarily so. Someone that wanted to stay in one of the deluxe resorts but is only in a party of 2 might see renting points as a better Value. This actually makes sense. Especially if one would consider renting one's points. Do the math, maybe it would actually be cheaper to rent out the points and use the money to book free dining. I have no idea if this could work - but especially for a family of four with kids older than 10 and if they are prepared to downgrade to a moderate, it might make sense financially.
Well the month is almost over...but ....why do you say this?BTW, probably won't see many Brazilians this June at WDW.

Look, many DVC members feel kinda hosed once in a while when there's a phenomenal deal out there to the general public. But you have to remember that a: you're still a part of the general public and can use those deals independent of your membership if you want; and b: as a DVC member you're not beholden to those deals, you have a much greater flexibility when it comes to when you take a vacation and how long the trip will be and the size of your accommodation. If the free dining period this year or any subsequent year is not a time you can go, no big deal, you have the money saved by getting a DVC room instead. Not renting points, just wondering if all promotions are off for me now. Only been members 1.5 years but we love it! Went to Disneyland in April, it was fantastic. Back to home base in Sept. Wish I would have joined 5 years ago.

Sure. Were I not a DVC member, and if I didn't have kids, and I wanted to go during a free dining period but stay in something a little fancier and/or schmancier like a 1BR Villa, I might opt to rent points versus take advantage of the free dining offer. Especially if I already had an annual pass. And that frees up the DVC member to use the free dining offer.Yes, I fully understand: Always check all the different options about how t get a cheaper stay.
What I meant was that a DVC-owner could choose to not use their DVC and instead rent out the points. For the money they get for that they might be able to get a vacation at WDW that also covers food with the free dining discount.

Think about people who aren't DVC members but have annual passes - in order to get the free dining offer, they still have to pay extra for (I think) at least a 2-day ticket for each person on the reservation. Suddenly not as good a deal. For them, it's better to try to get the room discount passholders often get, plus a "Tables in Wonderland" discount card that saves them 20% off most WDW table service restaurants and lounges (including alcohol, which is not included in any dining plan, free or not) for parties up to 10. You could take 9 of your favorite guests in any tour group for dinner one day and "save" a bundle!
Basically, free dining is a promotion (at least for Americans) that is independent of any other offer. Much like you might not be able to bundle 2 or more different coupons at a store to get more savings, you can't take a DVC membership and a room discount and free dining and combine it for a super great deal. I know UK residents often get crazy deals that include discounted rooms AND free dining for up to 21 days, it's enough to make me consider moving!
