Art of Animation Resort to have largest non-water park pool at WDW

I think this is the direction all of the new resorts are going. Guests want a big pool. Especially in the summer time when everyone at the resort wants to go swimming in the afternoon.

Hopefully. I think the marginal cost over duplicating the size of the other value pools is probably not that great, so it's a win-win. Guests are happy and Disney can market that they have a 12,000 sq ft pool. Now if they have covered bus stops, we'll know they've really been listening!

P.S. And Mongolian BBQ in the food court! Can't wait to walk over there from Pop!

The pool doesn't look like anything special... Just really, really big.

And am I the only one who thinks that having Nemo AND Little Mermaid is a tad redundant?

I don't think it will. If or when Pop Century is re-themed to Animation, I think it might be more balanced.

Uh-oh... look out, Yacht & Beach Club. ;)

I'm not sure what the total size is at the Y&BC, but technically Stormalong Bay is 2 or 3 separate pools. You can't swim from one end to the other, you have to exit and go across a walkway.

So it might just be Disney using stats to their advantage... Y&BC could probably still claim "largest swimming pool complex", while AoA can claim "largest non-water park pool", yet both claims would still be truthful and impressive.

Is it supposed to have a second floor or something?

Well, I would think having a water slide or some kind of water effects would probably add to it, right now just looking at the picture, it is only a big pool. So I can see why some would say it isn't a big deal, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are some water effects added later.

it might be big...but it isn't fancy...well it is fancier than the All Star Pools, but it's just a pool. I think Stormalong Bay still wins on coolness factor. :animwink:
