Art of Animation or Poly?

So we're heading back to Disney for New Year's yet again (yes, it's crowded then, but we did it this past year and we loved it, we used to be season pass holders so we've done/rode just about everything, we mostly go these days for the ambiance and to re-live past great memories).

We're currently debating where to stay. This past year, we stayed at the Contemporary and loved it. We had previously stayed at Value resorts because we were passholders and we'd spend (almost) no time at the hotel. The Contemporary was a great stay, for sure.

Right now, we're sort of between AoA. We are an "old" family, the oldest "child" will be turning 24 while there (but we still love going!) and AoA family suites look very spacious and might be a good fit for a family of five, with nobody that's particularly young.

At the same time, Polynesian looks wonderful (we're also looking to eat at 'Ohana during our trip). We're also looking to have a "pool day" (we've actually never had one of these, but it seems like it'd be fun) and I assume that Poly has a good pool area?

Basically, when weighing the pro's of both (and our family situation), and considering that Poly is more expensive, what say you all?

Split the diff. This way you won't be spending as much money as you would if you only stayed at Poly, and you'll get a chance to experience both resorts. I suspect when the trip is done, you will have enjoyed your time at Poly more, but at least then you'll know.

As my user name suggests, I'd go with the Poly (of course). :) That said, if you're dying to experience both then my second vote would be to do as an earlier user suggested and split your trip across both resorts. We did this a lot when I was a kid and I always liked the chance to see and experience a new resort, while still seeing our old standbys.

While A of A is brand new and tempting, if you get a suite (which is larger) it is pricey! The bus transportation can be a bit daunting! The convenience and the beauty far outweigh the value resort experience. I agree w/ another poster that maybe if you had younger children, it would be wonderful! It's still a bit like comparing oranges and apples though.;)
