Art of Animation Construction Noise

Just wondering if any recent guests at POP can talk about their experiences with the construction currently going on.

Is it noisy? Does the construction go on all day or into the evening?

Thanks!

Great question!!! I would like to know as well! We are staying at POP the end of August and it just dawned on me that noise from this could be an issue.

Construction Noise at Art of Animation

My family and I stayed in the 50's building of Pop Century, facing the lake and across from the Art of Animation Resort in January. At that time, they were working on the new resort practically from dawn to dusk, which was not a major issue for us since we were away from the room nearly the whole time and, hey, they can't finish the project if they don't make noise! The problem with noise for us arose on the fourth night we were there (Tuesday). We were awakened around 2:00 a.m. by the beeping of heavy equipment backing up, followed quickly by the thumps of heavy material being moved and other sounds of construction. I looked out the window to see the site fully illuminated with workers and equipment moving all over the place. The work and noise continued all night and the following day. The next night we again heard the noise in the very early morning hours (well before daybreak), but it was less than the night before. It appeared that they were working on the lake side of the resort, closer to Pop Century on Tuesday, and on the far side of the buildings already in place at the new resort on Wednesday, which is why the noise was more pronounced on Tuesday night than Wednesday night. For whatever reason, those were the only two nights we heard construction noise or saw activity at the site after dark. Perhaps they had a large concrete pour or some other project that took much longer than a standard work day to complete. Two nights of noise was an annoyance, but if it had been the whole week it would have caused a major problem with a young child who was already exhausted and needed sleep. If I were headed back there now, I would definitely request a room away from the lake front area just to be safe. Hope this helps!

We stayed at Pop in the 70's building not near the lake, but the staff decided to powerwash something outside at 2:00 a.m. It was extremely loud and I called the desk to complain and they said they would send someone to tell them to stop, but it continued. Hello????? 2 a.m.?????

We have stayed there other times with no problem, and are returning in Sept.

OT but that happened to us at All-Star Sports. We couldn't sleep at all as it was going on all night!!! We weren't notified of the work that was going to be done. I spoke to the manager at the front desk the following morning and he credited a nights stay to my bill. I understand work needs to be done, but a little notice would be nice.
To those staying at POP I hope that the construction noise isn't a hassle. Enjoy your upcoming trips!

OT, but I just returned from a week at the Beach Club and was awaken every day by construction noise (around 5am). I know the work has to be done but there should be set start times. I complained to the front desk but nothing was done.
