I read on a vacation summary that TDS's 20k is in fact a simulator, a VERY good simulator. BTW, you don't go underwater. Notice how in every picture the Nautilis is salways in the same spot?

They have a stationary Nautilus. The ride itself is a Dark Ride (on a track with show scenes) but the water effects are all within the Nautilus' themselves.

I don't believe you ever go into the Nautilus at TDS, at least the one thats in the lagoon, the building for the 20K ride and the Nautilus at TDS are in two separate places. DLP has a walkthrough version of the Nautilus called: Les Mysteres du Nautilus. The old 20K ride at the MK was the only one where you actually got to board and travel inside the Nautilus ... sigh. :(

Edit: Exprcoofto beat me to it.

I Wikipedia'd it and it is in fact a dark ride. I read a very detailed trip report syaing it wasn't but I guess they were wrong.

I've been on 20K at TDS. It is an excellent, well executed dark ride. My only complaint is that it needs to be made with larger windows so adults don't have to duck down to see upwards (and I'm only 5-8). The interior set pieces are all dry with simple bubbles on the window moving upward at times, however the set backgrounds sway back and forth in such a way that makes it look like an underwater fantasy world. I wonder if they plan to use a similar technique in Mermaid? Anyway, it's a nice adventure...pretty long, and has an interactive element in the flashlight so you can point at stuff. I would love to see this ride somewhere at WDW.

Oh ya, I remember it being very cramped from what I read. (I think this was off a Mice Chatters TDR report btw). I think it'd get the Splash treatment and increase capacity if it were ever to come here.

I wonder if they will have a homage to 20k under the sea in the new Little Mermaid ride. Perhaps some props in the ride or even a scale model of the Nautilus sub among Ariel's clutter in the treasure room scene? :lookaroun

Are they actually gonna use the 20K spot because AUA looks likes it's farther back, unless they start back there and move the que forward underground to that spot and put the ride there.

That seems to be going around a lot lately!:D

If prefurbs are maintenance, and maintenance is good for the Walt Disney World Resort, then EPCOT Explorer is happy.

If EPCOT Explorer is not happy, is the Walt Disney World Resort getting maintenance?
:dazzle:

Sorry, too much Finite Math/Logic HW.:lookaroun
