The magic catches us all. Every trip, every year is different. My 17 year old daughter keeps her mouse ears in her dresser and pulls them out every trip. My 21 year old son wants to do the College Program. My wife (who can't go on most rides) hunts down pins like a detective and wants to decorate our entire basement in a Disney Theme.
My sister and her "street smart" teenage kids came with us last year. The kids were pretty skeptical about the experience. I now have multiple pics of they hugging tigger.
There are probably a million reasons, but the atmosphere, the attractions, the fireworks, the music, the ever-changing list of things to do, the pleasure of finding a hidden mickey in a new spot, the really fun restaurants, the immersive shows...................Wow.
And for a high stress business man, I can leave everything behind for a week and just play.
I take other vacations and enjoy them very much. But they aren't DISNEY.
