I can't believe I'm weighing in on this, but I really am getting tired of this crap.

So here's the thing: A few of you seem to be very upset by reasonable criticism of the Mouse lately. You don't seem to hear the folks when they say that they LOVE Disney and their Disney vacations, however their expectations (that have been cultivated by Disney itself) are not being met lately. Comments such as these are very legitimate points of discussion/debate on a website such as WDW Magic. Now, the utterly ridiculous part is that some of you have taken it upon yourselves to be the "negativity police." You almost seem to stalk any poster that has made just "too many" negative comments and has gained a reputation with you. So you post an opposing opinion and include a gripe regarding "downers" and annoying negativity. By enticing the negative posters into arguing their point to a greater extent, you've quite honestly INCREASED and EXTENDED the negativity on this board. If you read the post, said to yourself "hmmm, I don't agree," and continued on, the topic would END. But no, threads that used to be a page or so long at most, evolve into 40 page debates over one person's OPINION. If you don't like their ideas, DON'T READ THEM!! I personally resent that I am supposed to be denied information that folks would like to share on the board because someone else might find them NEGATIVE! So quit with the whining, don't engage the folks you disagree with (even better, block them) and move on. You can't tell me that it isn't obvious to you which thread titles are lightning rods - AVOID THEM. It isn't your job to save the (Disney)world. So don't.

If you're wondering why we post and fight, just repeat to yourself "It's just a Forum, I should really just relax."

Okay, but I don't see a whole lot of polls asking if you're tired of the Pixie Dust.

And yes, relax, it is just an internet forum, but that's exactly why I'm offended that some folks are supposed to shut up because others don't like what they are saying. I'm not asking anyone to pipe down....well, except for asking other folks to pipe down. LOL

I'm head over heels in love with WDW, somedays I think they can do no wrong, I feel I have to defend it when I hear someone say something aboout it in RL, I love to hear all about all the wonderful things that are going on at the "World", but... I don't mind the negativity!

Sure I have posters that get on my nerves but I've harnessed the power of ignoring! If I find someone really negative I just skip over their posts... pretty simple!

The reason I joined this forum b/c I love discussing all things Disney... good, bad, and ugly! And I would imagine that most posters who do complain are just as passionate about WDW as I! "They" (the complainers) shed a lot of light for me... I like hearing how things could have been, should have been, etc. I find some of their posts interesting... they pick out details that I have yet to notice! Now whether or not I care about the artwork on napkins... doesn't matter, I still like hearing other's people thoughts and ideas! And that's what it's all about isn't it... hearing other's people thoughts and ideas!?! If we didn't want to hear it we shouldn't be on a forum in the first place!

IMHO!

My 2 cents

You can't get any customer satisfaction anywhere in this country anymore! At Walmart they have a greeter to say welcome to Walmart I wish the person taking my money would be as appreciative! I am not just knocking Walmart but all business in this country. At least Walmart has a greeter! I am a customer paying my hard earned money for a product or a service! If I need help, and I am about to give money to your company for a product or service that will help keep your company in business and you in a job it is in your best interest to help me so please help me!!!! We are all wondering why there are so many job cuts in this country maybe we all need to look in the mirror when it comes to customer service and pay it forward!!!! Well at least some of us. Any way I am off the Jerry McGuire "mission statement" stuff and I will give my 2 cents. I am going to WDW with my family next week and honestly I could not think of a better place to spend my hard earned money! I understand that Disney has maybe "reduced their standards" by still using the YOAMD cups and such but who has been able to keep any standard of business in this economy? The economy will change and when it does maybe then we can be critical of the "small things" I am appreciative of the anticipation of having the opportunity to look for the small stuff like looking for what is not working on SSE and the down time on TT or RNR. I love the United States and the freedoms it has to offer including the freedom of speech and so I appreciate the opportunity to vent here with all of my fellow WDW lovers!!!! This site ROCKS for Info and I appreciate all of it "Long live the Mouse that it all stared with!!!!!!:sohappy:

I agree with this statement. The economy has forced a lot of companies to hold back. Even Disney. And, yeah. I wouldn't care if they still used YOAMD cups. The kid that grew up on Captain Planet in me would rather see Disney use them than toss perfectly good cups in a landfill just because of the designs.

I don't think it's the negativity in itself that bothers me. It's the fact that many of the posters who post that kind of stuff only post that kind of stuff. Like there are certain names here that when you see those names as a topic starter, last post or within a thread, you can almost guarantee a negative comment of some sort. It's almost always the same issues too. These people don't seem to contribute anything else to the forum other than their negativity. Meanwhile they say that it creates discussion and such. Well yeah, just like bad news gets better ratings than good news.

Negativity does not equal hatred nor does it reflect a complete view. Without negativity issues may not be ever resolved, improvement are slow coming and new ideas never realized.

I personally see complaining as a healthy way to express yourself. I get that it can be overbearing sometimes and a lot of people just like to be unhappy, but negativity can be productive thing.

Excellent point! There is a book called the "Six Thinking Hats" that illustrates the value of seeing things from different points of view...even the so-called "negative" point of view. Companies have applied the principles of this book and found that it made their teams more productive and helped them work together better. I think the key is to really be able to manage the negative perceptions appropriately. Sadly, there are a lot of companies that have the same attitude about constructive criticism as many people on these forums have. In essence, the attitude is that anyone who doesn't think it's perfect is automatically wrong or has a problem. That's unfortunate, because companies that can't see their own faults or be open to feedback about their faults tend to miss out on the opportunity of making improvements that will be embraced by their customer base. If Disney thought the way a lot of posters here think, then any time a guest had a legitimate complaint about something, their policy would be to tell the guest, "Why don't you go to Universal if you hate our park so much?".

Jimmy, PLEASE let me know if you will accept my marriage proposal. I'm an attracitve, fit, trim, blonde 25 year old college grad who LOVES EPCOT Center and will do anything to marry someone who understands my obsession...

I hate negativity, but will set that aside if you agree to MARRY ME!?

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllll now, looks like I can still bring them in.

But alas, I'm afraid it's not to be. Now don't get me wrong, your out going personality is vivacious, and to put your beauty into words would be a task even one as articulate as myself would find difficult. But between my loving wife and many mistresses, I just don't have the time at the moment.

But I'll will personally remember your interest, and day-dream in my most private moments, what could have been....

Why can't you ever write a neutral poll? Are you really interested in knowing what other posters think about the supposed negativity, or is this poll just your way of disapproving of others, and hoping to get others on board with you?
