So true Hatter! I still marvel when my now adult son gets that look on his face.... and says ""Hey Mom..... remember when I was little....?"
We just found an old VHS tape of our DS ( now 15 ) when he was 6 months old on our first holiday in the north of Scotland and were going to set it up on an old video machine to surprise him tonight.

I'm grumpy right now because I am not there right now! I know in advance what will be working or not because i checks sites like this, which helps my expectationss, and things do break down unexpectedly, but they are not down for long, so i can deal with it. I get there and I am happy!. As for the money aspect, it is what it is, bring it, and spend it. To go there in the mindset of " i'm going cheap" does not exist in this place. Yes you can save on resorts, but in the end the mouse will get it all somewhere and somehow. thats the price for a WDW trip, and I am happy to spend it.

Disney is my happy place so I'm always so surprised when someone gets grumpy or downright nasty on vacation there (for any reason). I go out of my way to be extra nice like telling people w/buttons happy birthday etc.. and i'm not that nice in real life lol. Am I disappointed if something I like is closed...of course...especially if it's not a refurb but something that keeps breaking (hate it when i have a fp for a ride that ends up down for the rest of the night kind of thing) but i would never ever let it keep me from having a great time. usually a single "awwwww man!" and i'm over it.

The only moment I'm Grumpy is the moment I find the envelope on my door that says, Good Morning, Transportation Information Inside and the letter begins... We hope you have enjoyed your stay.
Every blessed second before that I'm Happy, Happy, Happy.

I am Happy in WDW and this past visit I especially noticed how nice other folks were. Holding doors, smiling and saying "sorry!" when they lightly bumped me, making smalltalk and jokes in lines, etc. So many happy, friendly people all around -- it really lifted my spirits!

Morning Folks. Last year whilst standing at the front of the rope drop at Epcot there was this American family standing right behind us.Mum,Dad,& three kids, ages around 6 to 12. The mother & three kids were in hyper mood but the father had a face as long as a horse. He then blurted out " Iam looking forward to Test Track " but when i told him it was closed due to refurbishment. Well he looked at me and asked " where did you hear that from?" So I told him. He then yelled at his family complaining what a waste of money for the ticket, his face was Mr Angry.I felt sorry for his wife & kids as I could see by their expressions that today wasn't going to be magical. So when you visit the parks, what is your attitude if something is broke down or out of order? Are you a Grumpy Dwarf or a Happy Dwarf.? For me I wouldn't let it get me down.Theres too much magic in the parks to let it spoil my day.;)

What was that guy thinking?

The wife probably knew and wasn't telling her husband and you ruined it! LOL.

I was extremely bummed in 2002 (or 2003-4?) when they had IASW down for like a year. It's a favorite of mine and probably my favorite of all rides...so I just bummed out so badly and was kind of disappointed when I'd pass the building.

But I didn't yell at anyone, lol. I didn't cry. I may have whined a smidge, though.

I see a LOT of people arguing, fighting and making nasty comments to each other. Lots of parents pushing children past their limits. People are frequently unprepared for the heat, the humidity, the additional expenses, amount of walking (and standing!) and how long everything takes. They don't sleep enough. They don't drink enough water.

They keep trying to push through the obstacles in the hopes of having the best time and eventually they crack. Sometimes it gets ugly. You really see some nasty behavior if you spend enough time at WDW.

More water and more sleep would do most travelers a world of good.

Before we leave for Disney my DH and I each write "I will not be grumpy" 100 times. ;) The only thing that really gets me grumpy at Disney is the Stitch wake up message!
I much prefer Mickey with his, 'up and at 'em Pal".
