It's a tough call.
The expansion is big and poses positives and negatives. I think that in a way it is too big, takes up too much space, and the money will take from other future advancements in all 4 parks. The execs can be tight with the purse strings so I am not blaming FLE for this entirely.
However, if it is scaled down it runs the risk of being half-***ed and that may ruin the experience. And I don't want that either. I want he kids to have fun of course and the adults too, but I think I have seen too many temporary solutions fail and use up money. For example, AE to Stitch. Urgh, still irks me! And that cost much less time, money, space, and energy to do and there are more examples of "er, why did they do that?"
People and children will love it but I am thinking of the long term value it will have or not have for MK.
I would like them to shoot for more classics like they did with POTC, Space, Thunder, etc. and that seems to have fallen by the wayside.
Was the last great effort TOT and R&R and elements of AK? I wanted to say EE too because it is a favorite but the whole Yeti activity or lack of and maintenance business is ridiculous and sad.
I was so naive, I think back to how I felt when TOT was unveiled and how I foolishly thought that it meant that this was the direction they would go in for all future attractions.:hammer:
Boy, was I dumb.
Think about...say a Jonas Brothers meet and greet or when they had or if they have signings now ( yes, I know they are actual people and characters of the parks are not) but what it would be in say 20 years.
Do what Universal did not. Hogwarts castle is not fully accessible. I agree that one palace or area could be shared by all princesses ( if done spectacularly) and people can venture off to different rooms or pavillion type areas for each of the princesses on a bit of a smaller scale. It won't fail if the design is engaging and spectacular and appropriately transitional to each princess. Half-hearted attempts at this would fail and I realize that. Putting them all in one place is trickier and kids are savy, and I am aware of that. I realize a big problem would be "well, they are princesses, and they are like rich and rule a kingdom, why are they sharing living space?" Never said I had the answers!:lookaroun
Otherwise, I still feel that they are repeating what they have done already.
Isn't this what they originally wanted from Mickey's Birthday-Starland-Toon Town Fair-amacallit? And this is on a smaller scale with you would think farther reaching appeal to boys and girls and adults and with an arsenal of truly beloved characters. Well, they are still getting rid of it. And I can't comment on how busy it is or not because after many trips to WDW I haven't been to Town Fair in ages. I just heard it is getting replaced.
And unfortunately, look what happened? It just makes me think that if Town Fair is going, will the princesses survive long term too?
If Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Daisy and countless other characters, some of their homes, some of their artifacts, a boat, a barnstormer, and shows couldn't do it, can the princesses and fairies do it better? I believe Chip and Dale, all 7 dwarves, countless other characters and happenings, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure the princesses must have passed that way and Town Fair is still a goner.
I'm not trying to disagree with people but I'm not sure. Makes me uneasy.
