the proposed Asian Hotel. It was proposed for Phase One of WDW. It was to be located on the western edge of Seven Seas Lagoon. Anyone heard any rumors if they are going to build it???

and did they ever build the Venician(spelling?) Resort? if so where is/was it?

I could've sworn I saw on this website a few months ago an artist's rendering on where the "proposed" hotels were going to go. You may want to do a search for "Asian Hotels". Check it out!

The Disney Institute recently re-opened as the Saratoga Springs Resort--a DVC property. Apparently, people didn't want to learn things on their vacations.

It's a shame that the D.I. shut down. I was there a few times and had a great time!

With all the talk about how Disney should pay people more, keep the animation studio open, bigger budgets for attractions, and on and on and on, I'm thinking that the last thing they would want to do is to build ANOTHER over-priced, over-staffed, under utilized hotel on property.

ditto, There is so much there now, they should take a few years and build up whats there and to make the employees happier.

Havent read all these replies yet, so I dont know if this is going to be a repeat. I have heard that they are planning to renovate the the contemporary and make it into time share. Also heard of another time share in the works. That could be the theme of one of them.

There was a plan in the mid 90`s to build a lowrise between the Contemporary and the MK called Kingdom Suites. It was to be styled like the Contemporary and be time share.

I have heard this as well, but I also heard after surveying most of the land around the MK they cant build there because of the swap land not being stable enough to build on. And being the oldest of the buildings they cant remove the contemporary because of something in some contracts stating that there are certain original buildings that cant be removed. And the MK is the only place without a time share extrememly close by thats what they are doing. This info isnt in stone, but I got it all from a CM.

It is too bad. With all the neagative images of the Middle East that are out there today, just think what a Persian Disney hotel could do.

As for an Italian theme, I'm suspecting Universal's Portofino Hotel would help to discourage any future plans along those lines.

The original name was the 'Cypress Bayou Lodge", and I believe that it was always intended to be a National Park theme'd place. I believe the original plans had it having a fairly close thematic relationship to Fort Wilderness (even well before the rumored Wilderness Junction development)

That would be the Cypress Pointe (sp?) Hotel, I believe.
