Are there people who go to Disney and then not like it?

I used to think there were two kinds of people in the world:

1) People who go to Disney, like it, go back over and over and over again.

2) People who just simply refuse to go for whatever reason. They say, why would I go all that way when I can just go to Six Flags, or Kings Island, or Cedar Point, etc.

But is there a 3rd group who DO go there, but then NOT like it.

Is that even possible?

Yes, usually they are people who don't do any planning or research at all and are overwhelmed by everything - since they assumed it was like their local Six Flags, etc.

Oh yes. My dad was once one of them. He went with his brothers in the mid-70s and hated it. He's reformed his ways now, though. :)

There are also a number of people who do no planning and have no idea what to expect. Some of them can get very frustrated by the complexity of a WDW vacation, such as FastPasses, dining reservations, etc.

The big thing that i have noticed is that a majority of the people that dislike it after they go do not stay on the premises. This really kills the magic especially when you have to worry about separate transportation such as cabs. Also you have to really research the food. There is some great eating.....in fact my favorite all time restaurant is located here......but there is a TON of pig slop....i mean a TON

The people we know that have gone and not liked it:
Stayed off property.
Booked a trip that included tickets to Universal, Sea World and Disney World so they tried to fit all of it in with only 5 days.
And then they had to waste time on a time share tour.
Rush, rush, rush......................... No fun.

My best friend does not like it. He hates crowds and waiting in line. He stated "Why would I pay money to wait in line all day"? And this was in the supposed offseason on a week day.

Heading for the great escape.
Why wouldnt there be, theres no law against it. After all not everyone buys into pixy dust fanstasy and just see plastic, plywood and vertically challenged teens in furry suits.

My boyfriend has went 2 times in the past both when he was younger and the last time he went with another family. The other families son ruined it for everyone (so he says)

so sometimes people could be turned off by Disney because of difficult members of their party. Even I have been so unhappy around others i have went with, I really couldnt care less what we did.

Yeah.........the weird ones don't like it. Sorry, just my opinion. There is something for everyone and while Cedar Point, Six Flags and Canada's Wonderland has their charm it can't replace the all around feel and mystique of WDW. Those parks are a dime a dozen. WDW isn't.

I mean I think I checked the numbers and in 2008 alone WDW had 35 million people that visited and I think about 16 million were in the Magic Kingdom. Seems anyone who doesn't like it would be in the minority.

But yeah for sure there are people that don't like it, they exist

I think a lot of people who don't like WDW just don't want a theme park vacation.
They would rather go hiking in the mountains, or go to the beach, or explore Vancouver, or go to Europe or Hawaii or China, etc.

It's a good thing that not everyone likes WDW. The place is too crowded already.

:)

They are on this board, not gonna name any names but its a majority(aka LOUD minority) that is. Its funny that we have so many haters on a WDW fansite.

LOL...My wife's friend went down to Florida with her friends for some type of girl trip and she called us from the Jungle Cruise Queue...."I know you like it here, but I F^(#!ng hate this place".

She isn't a theme park or crowd type of person anyways, so it was half expected. Also, she just went to MK on a whim during the week between Christmas and New Years. Very crowded for a non-crowd person.

If she would have talked to us, we probably wouldn't have recommended MK and instead told her to go to Epcot.

But yes, they are out there.

I remember when i was a cast member guests use to complain(mostly the parents) that disney world was too big and too hot/wet.

Other people that I know said that disney world is too childish for them.

just to play devils advocate, there really are no thrill rides at Disney. TOT and RNR would be it. Sometimes people just want to be scared. Nothing at Disney gets my blood pumping like Top Thrill or Sheikra!

I don't see adrenaline junkies returning for their next vacation.
