I did a search, but couldn't find any news about new 2012 mugs.

Does anyone know if they are still selling the 2011 mugs with the 'pool scene?'

I'd like to get one more with the hot pink lid when we are there in February.

Thanks in advance!

I've noticed they usually use the same mugs for a few years before switching them over. Or they change them ever so slightly. The pool scene was new last year, so I'd expect to see it around at least this year.

Boo! I was just there in October and am going back next weekend... I ALWAYS get the mug and was hoping for a new design... Guess I'll have to settle for a new color :)

I wish they would stop this whole property-wide mug design. Just have a resort design that doesn't change every 4 or 5 years, people are going to want a resort specific mug then one that is campaign specific.

I'd like to see them set up a space on the website that allows you to, once the trip is booked and the down payment is made, create your own reusable refillable mug. You could use a photo of of your own or choose a design that Disney offered, including a resort design. Then when you checked in it would be there waiting for you. Disney wants to make the whole trip experience more personalized, that would be a great way to do that.

This actually sounds like a really cool idea. I would be on board with this. Of course, dining plan price would go up $10 a day in order to accommodate this "free" perk. :hammer:

Gosh I really hope they change them by the time we go in May. I have to be honest with you, I was not impressed at all with the 2011 beach design for the mugs!

I don't think anyone is that impressed with the designs they have had since Meg Crofton got her hands on the resort merchandise. :( Three colors and one design. At least the mugs do not have the standard blue Disney Parks design.

It would be a fun idea, but the costs would be far higher than what they do now. Ordering thousands of the same mug is far cheaper than ordering even the resort specific designs they used to have. Producing them individually would be pretty cost prohibitive. Not that Disney doesn't clean up profit wise as it is now, but that would really diminish their piece of the pie. I would be happy with resort specific ones again, they did make nice souvenirs.

I still love my Wilderness Lodge mugs we got in the '90's, and they have stood the test of time, I take them everywhere.

If WDW smartened up and made resort specific mugs again, there are alot of people who would buy them for souvenirs of their visit.

We just got back on 1/28/12. The design on our mugs (Polynesian Resort) were different than the mugs we got last year (Tree House Villas, Jan 2011).

At least the mugs for "what will you celebrate" went with the theme... I don't get the beach theme!!! Has nothing to do with the "let the memories begin" theme.

I think that it is more themed for the pool areas of the resorts. Lounge chairs, swimming, etc...

Agreed. I still have mugs from the 90's (a silver 25th one, and my parents still have the Port Orleans ones). While they are bulkier than the recent design (at least the style that I have) they are definitely more of a keepsake.
