I'm not sure if it is a permanent change or something due to weather/supply issues, but on Sunday (January 10) the perimeter launches were done from the barges instead of along the lagoon shoreline. It was very humid during the day and rained the night before, but it didn't seem especially windy. I've never seen this before (either in person or in video), so I'm not sure why the change was made. It can be seen in this video during all 3 usually-perimeter launches, at 8:26, 9:18, and 11:42.
I also watched the show last Wednesday (January 6) and the perimeter pyro worked exactly as normal (no inferno barge, though), so perhaps it was a one night thing. It was the day of the marathon, which runs its final mile through World Showcase with the torches lit, so perhaps that was somehow related?
