Are there ACTUAL Sounds Dangerous fans here?

I really like the older one with Martin Short.. The newer Drew Carey one is ok.. I will usually see it once every 3 or 4 trips

I rather enjoy the Drew Carey version. Granted I like Drew Carey but the show is fun especially to take first time visitors to it is even better.

I am a fan. I am not a big fan. It is an attraction that I enjoy sitting through, but feel no rush to get to it, or any guilt if we decide to pass it by. Like Drew Carey, it is best taken in small doses.

I like the idea behind the show, to focus on the importance of sound in a movie by suddenly removing the picture. But the execution, to me, feels so cheap and slapdash, I almost feel embarrassed watching it. Like renting Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Of course, renting Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is a helluva lot cheaper than the price of a ticket to DHS. I preferred the Monster Sound Show, but of course, most sound editors rarely work that way anymore, as they can use computers to move sounds around with ease.

I'd rather see something like the Monster Sound Show again, though, with a retro feel - like, you're in the 1940s, and a movie must be finished within the next 10 minutes as the head honcho of the studio is coming down to get a peek at the "big finale" of an upcoming action-epic. The sound editors need help fast, so they recruit volunteers to help them finish the sound effects for the scene. And the reaction of the cast member playing the "head honcho" will vary depending on how good the guests were at their volunteer jobs. If they were awful then the honcho can decide to release it as a screwball comedy. Then, the post-show can focus on the modern approach to sound editing and mixing in film.

I'm not a Sounds Dangerous fan but I'm a big fan of the TOMORROWLAND TRANSIT AUTHORITY :lookaroun

Me too!
I might like Sounds Dangerous, but apparently I have sensitive ears because when the sounds come through the headphones they send shivers down my spine. I can't take it, so I sit in the dark and listen to everyone laugh at random moments. I'm weird, aren't I?:lookaroun

I wonder how many people visit this attraction. Being recently I came back to Disney after a very long sabbatical I had to try everything at least once so we did it. Nice the one time but yeah... haven't been back. It is a nice place for a nap, ACed and fairly quite. I think each park should have at least one ride which is a great place to nap if you want :p

I HAD to reply....
My daughter LOVES it! Infact last time we were there, we "heard" it two times in a row. Granted she is under the age of 10...but isn't Disney for the "kids in all of us".

I used to like it but back in the day they had wayyyyy better headphones. It seemed to be more realistic. Can anyone recall this?

Can I say that I don't not like Sounds Dangerous? I enjoy a lot of Drew Carey's work, and while the attraction is in need of an update, it's still enjoyable.

Speaking of Drew Carey, I'm holding out hope that one day DHS opens a "Whose Line is it Anyway - Live!" stage show. Disney wouldn't have to pay scriptwriters, so it cuts costs for them.:lookaroun

This is exactly why it was a one-time-only attraction for me....I was very...'uncomfortable'...with the sharing-the-headphones thing...but the show itself was okay. My only real issue was with the headphones...

Jenn, I'll have to try it then. You are spot on with most everything else at the World....

I've never experienced the attraction, but will.........

I am in the boat try everything at least once, you never know what you are missing. I know there are some non-coaster fans but BTM, SM, EE, RR are all great rides to even do once. Heck I even tried MS:Orange once.

I am not a fan of that theater, it is just sort of nasty

So I guess you can say I am not a fan.

However, my 10 y/o LOVES it, so there is another one for ya :)
