I hope you enjoy it. I personally think it was beautiful. Studios was a joke at that time but it’s come along some I hear?

Euro…always “euro” for me…

I don’t believe in renames 😎
Thanks. Over there you have to provide a doctors note as proof of a disability and they accommodate you accordingly. I know the law stops WDW asking for proof. I have to avoid metal detectors now because of the implants in my brain. I've been given a card to present at airports which is accepted pretty much everywhere. I contacted Disneyland Paris to explain and make sure it applies to their security too. Surprisingly they emailed me back saying they won't accept the card the airports do but require a doctors note not more than 3 months old explaining why I can't go through a metal detector. Not a problem as I can do that, just seems a bit overkill :D

That’s shockingly bad policy trapped in the Stone Age…

I have only ever stayed at partner hotels in Anaheim. I have visited the parks long enough to have seen a huge improvement in CM attitudes. Another thing I love about Disney parks is their cleanliness and the general (and possibly naive) sense of safety I feel behind the turnstiles. I have seen the plainclothed security in action there once. We were at the candy store end of the big emporium store in the park on Main St. and there was an altercation. Two families got into a shouting match and suddenly two men were going at each other. Within seconds there were plainclothed security staff on the scene breaking up the fight. Nobody wants to see that kind of misbehavior in the parks, but it was nice to know security was on it. I was from Sacramento when I lived in CA so didn't really consider myself a local visiting DLR/DCA, but I haven't experienced what you described about locals being unwelcoming. I'm sorry to hear you had that experience.

I have visited both US Universal Studios parks. The one in Studio City, CA was originally an actual film studio and the theme park evolved from what was originally a studio backlot tour. Universal Studios park suffers from the same problem Disney does in the area. No room to grow. That's why they have that escalator. LOL! Now the Florida park (like Disney) has lots of room and have done a good job giving Disney a run for their money. I stayed on-property there once and loved being able to take a water taxi to the parks. Love the Harry Potter areas. Love some of the legacy rides (they still have E.T. in FL). The CA park just isn't as fun to me.
I understand, but my enjoyment came from the differences instead of the actual attractions. Most of the attractions in CA were repeated in Florida, but the way the park was laid out and the Back Lot tour made it more fun for me. Now if I would have had to physically climb up to the higher lever, my opinion would be totally different.😀

Universal Orlando is better, for sure. Two parks, a water park and a third gate coming soon. Plus like you said, more space, although they are a little cramped up in Orlando to an extent as well. That being said I did love the Backlot Tour in Hollywood which made it all worth it. Even if some of the attractions are the same. And dare I say one of the biggest movie flops of all-time - Waterworld - actually was an entertaining show. Something else not in Orlando.

Universal to me is a situation that's much more clear-cut: Orlando's is better. Universal Hollywood is a bit limited and overpriced by comparison. Unlike the Disney parks, I find it more difficult to recommend USH to those accustomed to Orlando because there's a fair number of exact clones, and the Disney and Universal parks are a fair distance away from each other in CA. And as much as the Studio Tour is iconic, it's not the only studio tour option available-and frankly, if people just want to tour a movie studio without the theatrics and attraction components, they might be better served by one of the other, cheaper options (WB, Sony, Paramount), many of which also offer a longer tour time than Universal does. Arguably, the urge to do both Disney and Universal in the same trip is a byproduct of WDW-centric thinking, where the combination makes a lot more sense and the two destinations are much more comparable.

BUT I also love the atmosphere of USH, Waterworld, and the Studio Tour. The atmosphere of Universal Hollywood probably shouldn't work, but somehow it does-better than the Studio park in Florida, actually, at least as of now. And Super Nintendo World, for a few years at least, will give USH a unique draw that will temporarily help set it apart from the Florida parks.

And we all know, deep down, that Universal Orlando has a secret, crippling flaw: it just doesn't have enough escalators. The moving walkways are merely a poor man's substitute for the true brilliance of the Starway!

I remember years ago on a different forum reading a thread about what people's first Disney park was and whether or not that resort was their favorite. While there were a few outliers, by and large most people who had been to both preferred the one they went to first, and the more they went to that first resort before they went to the second, the more that tended to be true.
Ya know… I think maybe I know why I’m unique in liking both. I grew up going to WDW, but always wanted to see Disneyland as well. So when I finally got to visit as a young adult, it was like the fulfillment of a childhood dream. So I have very fond memories of both. The early D23 events were also particularly magical, hearing Richard Sherman sing, listening to the legendary imagineers like X., Marty, Alice, and Bob Gurr…. It brought all of the magic to life for me and those memories happened in Anaheim. But of course I grew up going to WDW and love it as well… even though they keep taking away the memorable things like Concourse Steakhouse. (I’m still bitter about that!) and breakfast at Tony’s.
Definitely true. That said, I understand it a bit more when people just do WDW and ignore the rest of Florida because there's so much on property to do and explore.
I can easily spend the same amount of time at either.

I've seen that Waterworld stunt show a couple of times. The first time I saw it one of the employees told me I looked like The Deacon. LOL! I look more like Walter White. =P
