Are all of the character dining options a buffet?

Just wondering if there are any character dining options that are non-buffet. My bf loves the character dining and for our 6-day December trip, we have Donald's Safari Breakfast, Crystal Palace (lunch), and Chef Mickey's (breakfast) reservations. In addition we also have Biergarten. Our only non-buffet restaurant is The Hollywood Brown Derby.

Are there any character dining options that are non-buffet?

Cinderella's Royal Table isn't a buffet.

Thank you- I'll have to try to get that one. I know it's a hard reservation to get.

I'm trying to watch the waistline....not sure if it's possible at WDW, especially with Thanksgiving, the holidays, and the free DDP offer. :ROFLOL:

These aren't buffets but they are all you can eat. Cindy's is plated but you can get seconds and thirds, while GG is family style.

Granted, but you still don't have to get up and get it yourself.

And OP...dont' worry about your waist...you may be eating more...but with all the walking you'll be doing you're just going to burn it off!

Akershus, in Norway at EPCOT, is half and half, they have a buffet table with all sorts of items, but your main entrees are served to you.

Is that something new since 2004? When we went in 2004, my wife and I ate supper at Cinderella's Royal Table and we ordered off a menu. It was neither buffet nor family style.

Of course now that I think of it, I'm trying to remember if the supper itself was a character meal or not. I do remember seeing Cinderella, but I can't remember for sure if she was supposed to be walking around the tables, or if she was just taking a quick break from greeting people for pictures downstairs.

CRT dinner is not a buffet or family style. You get a salad/appetizer, entree and desert. I believe the breakfast may be family style. No idea about lunch.

So far we have done:

Ohana Breakfast
Tusker House Breakfast
Chef Mickey's Dinner
Crystal Palace Lunch
1900 Park Fare Dinner

And they have all been great. Would only recommend CM if you had kids though, probably liked it least of all (food wise, the experience was still great).

Will be trying Akershus on our next trip, looking forward to it!

I'll be accompanied by a 33 year old big kid who would love to see Mickey & friends, hence all the character breakfasts. I think he gets more excited than the little kids!

Slightly off topic, but is Crystal Palace a character meal all day, or just for breakfast? And what about Cinderella's Royal Table? Are there any other character meals that only have characters for one or two meals, but not all three? Is Hollywood and Vine still Playhouse Disney characters, and did I see correctly that it is only characters for lunch and not for supper?

Crystal Palace is character meal all day. Same with Cinderella. Restaurants that only have character dining at certain times are (and this is not extensive, just off the top of my head..) Ohana (breakfast), Tusker House (breakfast), Hollywood and Vine (breakfast, lunch), and Garden Grill (dinner, though they are only open for dinner anyway).
