While reading around this board, it occoured to me that maybe this spring isn't the best time to visit Disney World. Fantasyland is undergoing a great expansion soon, Hollywood Studios no longer has .. well, studios ? Theres no more electric parade, and no water in the moat.

So, just wondering, what is really GOOD about visiting DW this April? And what really sucks about it?

(I'm really anxious to go, and I know I'll enjoy my trip regardless.)

Well, not to be a downer or anything, but haven't you forgotten about the crowds for the various Spring Breaks that run throughout the month?

On the flip side, at least the temps shouldn't be too hot yet. :)

When in April are you going? Mid March will be more crowded than late April, especially with Easter being early in April.

If you're really not looking forward to your trip, maybe you should postpone it? We're going in mid-April during our kids' school vacation week, and we are all excitedly counting down the days. Disney trips aren't cheap, and if we weren't pumped to go, I don't think I'd spend the money.

Um... you'll be in Disney World. :lookaroun

Seriously, though, even with possibly higher crowds, refurbs, etc, there are still a million good things in WDW. If you've been before and are looking for something new, I would try searching around both here and on the web for different ideas of little, special things to do.

Check out allears.net in their blog section - two or three of their bloggers regularly write about Disney details, which even if it's crowded, you can still enjoy.

Poor girl, you can see straight up her shorts, good thing she remembered her underwear......Anyways I've enjoyed going in March before. It's not terribly hot like summer, yes it's a little bit crowded but you have Flower and Garden festival and everything should, please note I said should as we've been having some pretty crazy weather here and I don't know how it will affect the flowers, be in full bloom and beautiful. Now, if you don't want to go I'm sure someone around here will take it off your hands....

We are going to WDW 15th to 29th April, and our travel company seems to think that a lot of the crowds will have died down by then as easter is so early. :lookaroun

Have visited around this time before so aren't worried about crowds much as easter will have gone.

Spring break however wasn't really a factor in our decision, but can anyone tell me when it starts / ends??

AND..... are crowds during spring break comparable to the summer??

There's no one set week for Spring Break across the nation; they're established locally by the school system. So, while it looks like the crowd level are less than earlier in the month, they're still high nonetheless. High, but manageable.

And don't forget there's the Grad Night and the Cheerleading And Dance World Championship April 23-25, which means that the park hosting Grad Night will shut down early for the event. And of course a bunch of happy cheerleaders and dancers roaming the parks.

April is Spring Break season for much of the country. Many school systems schedule Spring Break around Easter while other schedule them 2 months after Winter Break. From TPs, the crowds die off quite noticeably the week following Easter week.

Great weather
@ Disney
Not working
Longer park hours

If you are this uptight about it already, then cancel the trip and go the first week of May, September, or October. If you are looking for the parks to yourself, that does not exist.

Refurbishments always happen. FL is going to be expanded over a 3 year period. The Castle moat is already filled again. DHS has everything but the Back Lot Tour I believe. SpectroMagic is still in effect until June. Even if it was gone, Main Street Electric Parade will be there. It is an incredible parade. Wishes is changing to a new format for the Summer. It is not going away, just different.

If you want, Busch Gardens does not change and you only have to deal with a lot of locals depending on the one you go to.

Ok, thanks for that.

Last time we were there was Late June and left 3rd July and it was pretty busy by then! Can't imagine it will be busier than that so we will be fine as we manged then.

Thanks for your info
