Does anyone know if you can order an appetizer instead of a dessert with the free dining?

Appetizer VS. Dessert

don't know, but don't think so...the regular dining plan no longer includes app, just entree/side, dessert, & non-alcoholic, non-specialty drinks. If it's not an opton for people paying for it, I can't imagine them offering it as a freebie. But there's no law that says you can't ask @ each restaurant; just don't be surprised if the answer is No.

There's not much point in Disney offering the DP as a main course and dessert if they then substitute an appetiser instead.

I really wish they did, or at least offered to let a couple trade in their two desserts for one app.
I guess I hadn't considered that the Dessert is priced lower than an appetizer. If that's generally the case, then yeah- I guess there's no point for them to make the option available. Although the suggestion of trading in two desserts for one app is most excellent since apps are often shared anyhow.
I was thinking that an app and a dessert would be about the same price and it would be nice not to have to always get the dessert. I don't mind paying for an appetizer, I'm just worried I'm going to be overwhelmed by all the desserts. I want to have my Mickey Premium Bar and Dole Whip too, so if I have a dessert with every dinner I'll probably just have to start :hurl: to fit in everything I plan to.
Let the gorging begin!
