Anyone with a good memory on discounts?

A little help, please.

We are starting to plan for our trip which will be in June. Can anyone remember, or have some old documentation, on whether or not WDW runs resort discounts during that time of year? We went during spring break last year, and I sort of remember them running some discounts not too long after that, but I'm not sure.

The budget is running tight, and while we would like to stay on-site, it may not happen with normal rates.

The best place to check out discounts is mousesavers.com. On the site there is a listing that shows what discounts were available, when they started, what dates they covered and when they expired. You can look historically and see when discounts were give that way. For the most part, the summer is a time when discounts are not needed to fill the rooms, so the avialabe ones are few and far between. This was the case pre 9/11. Now, you see some more agressive discounting by disney due to low attendance figures.
The only discount that you may be guaranteed to get would be disney club, but if you are not already a member, it is too late to join.
Don't forget to look at annual passholder rates. Ask CRO when you call about these discounts, they are the deepest on property (up to 40% off) and you don't have to have an AP at the time you book and only 1 person in your group has to have one at all once you get there. You can easily pay for the extra ticket in room savings alone, not to mention the other discounts you get around the "world". Last year these rates were available at the end of January and covered travel through September. Keep an eye out on Mousasavers and give it a try.

Remember, you can book a room now and then apply the disocunt at a later time if it becomes available.

Hi , my sister and I went last year in May , i have an annual pass so it's different but a friend did not when he went 2 weeks later in early June and they paid 125.00 a night for the POR including tax. Hope this helps ! I do think they normally have specials around that time of year ! We paid 100 a night in May with the passholder deal.:)

Thanks, dizneykev. I've checked mousesavers a little, but I was not aware you could no a history search. I'll check that out. I've done some rough math in my head (which may be a mistake - lol), and I don't think an AP would work with our situation. Still working on it, though. We do belong to the Disney Club, but it would not be enough of a discount to benefit us for our financial needs.

Thanks, Horizons38. Yeah, it seems to me we had only been back for a month or so last year, when I saw some discounts posted. I know it was late spring or early summer, but I can't remember for sure. That's what happens when I forget to wear my earplugs at night: those darn brains keep leaking out!

We're heading down in June, too, from Bristol. (Don't know about discounts at that time, though.)
Have you made plans? If you'd like, I'll let you know what I can find out about rates and deals.

Wonderful Tri-Cities!

(I enjoyed three years of college in the area.)

I agree with disneykev in that mousesavers.com is a great source of discount information. Just check in a regular basis and it'll provide you with the most up to date information there is.

Have a great trip!!

Like they say in the info about passholder rates, it can benefit you if you are there for as short as a 3 night stay in some cases. Just as an example, we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in November for $99/night for a woods view. It all depends on what kind of deals they have. if you happen to go to mousesavers, take a look at the "come-back" discount. That additional info provided by Kevin W was me. It was my first time witha ground breaking info thing that could be posted. I was pleased. I am hoping to get into the All stars for under $60/night in April.

We've got plans to use DVC points and stay at OKW, but let me know because I'm hoping to convince my sister and her family to join us from Tallahassee and they'd love to stay on property -- and probably will if they get a good deal.

We're planning to be there June 15th thru the 21st. When are you going?

I never knew a thing about NASCAR before I moved here -- I didn't know the names Petty or Earnhart from Donald Duck. Now I know a lot just from osmosis. You have to be careful about what you say in front of people because they take their drivers seriously. I've only been to one race, it was Dales Sr's last race in Bristol.

Race week is a thing to behold. Pretty soon the stadium will seat 160,000!

Hope you can find some tickets. They're hard to get.

dreamer,
Right now we're planning on June 14 - 21, but it is not a definite. What was it that John Lennon said - "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." Several things could determine whether or not we go. Probably won't know until about March, but I've started working on it now, just in case. I'll certainly let you know what I can find as far as rates and discounts. Many people (including Kingdom Konsultant) are really good with posting new discount codes and other discounts. But I'll let you know what I find out. If past WDW history holds true, there should be some announcements on new specials coming out within the next six weeks (I hope).

Debbie,
Not a race person, but I work with several people that are. If you are seriously planning going to BMR, start planning as soon as possible. Everything possible fills up in this area: hotels, motels, campgrounds, RV parks, you name it! I have heard that people will rent their condo our house for a week, and stay with relatives, because they'll charge big bucks and someone is always willing to pay it. And like dreamer said, tickets can be very hard to get. Good luck.
