Anyone see the plane in the sky about two days after Thanksgiving this year?

Do NOT turn this into a religious thread!!

About 2 days after Thanksgiving we were on the bus to Disney/MGM Studios.
It was around noon.
People were pointing out the window and looking up. There was a stunt plane starting to spell out something. It started with a :animwink: face (only it wasn't winking) and then is spelt out Jesus loves you.

Now I'm like :lookaroun because it seemed very strange to see that over Disney property. -Even though it probably wasn't-
Now I can see how some people of different religions minght get offended by that.

The next day was our last day at WDW. We were at our hotel (Poly)
[which by the way is a wonderful hotel:sohappy: ]
And we saw it again. Wich led me that you could probably see this all over the WDW property.

My questions are ...
Anyone else see this?
Is it ok for someone to do that (by big componies like Disney and Universal)?
And has this ever happened before?

Just curious.

If you mean is it ok for Disney/Universal to have "Jesus loves you" written in their airspace, I'd say legally... yes.

However, I very very very very much doubt that it actually was Disney who arranged for that skywriter-nor, I imagine, did the skywriter contact Disney for permission. Nor, I would think was the skywriter actually writing in the sky over Disney property.

Disney do go to great lengths to avoid offending people (think of the PC rehab of Pirates of the Carribean) and I very much dout that they had anything to do with it.

We could see them great from the pools at POP. Too bad it was sooooooo windy that by the time the plane was even half finished with a word, the start was all but unreadable. :(

It troubles me that you'd even leave room for speculation that this could have been done by the Walt Disney Company.

I'm surprised that disney didn't do any investigating into this. but knowing disney, they probably did and didn't tell anyone.

ive seen that down here in fort lauderdale once or twice, i seriusly doubt it was disney who did it down here and i dont think it was disney that did it up there.

it was prolly some nut group that has nothing better to do with the money they scam from their "flock", like helping the homeless, so they spend it on a futile jesture like that.

Good Morning, My wife and I saw the Aircraft while driving to WDW that morning apx 10-11 am, It was sky writing over Clermont on US 27. most likely due to the altitude you could see it from WDW Property. :animwink:

I remember a few years ago (probs my '97 visit) a plane with a banner behind it advertising Church Street Station. Does Church Street Station still exist.

I would say that the "Jesus" thing wouldn't be Disney. It wouldn't be in their financial interest, nor would they intentionally want to cause offence to any of its guests.

Since I have worked in an office since August 04 I haven't seen it a lot, but when I used to work outside at Epcot it was there maybe once, twice weekly...

Freedom of religion allows people of all religions to display their beliefs, so I wouldn't see a legal problem there. My Mother told me something about planes not being able to fly over WDW........I guess she was wrong. I have never seen it, but like a previous thread read, if people have proposed this way over WDW, what a place to display your thoughts!!!

Not Disney

Im not a betting man but Id take this bet. This has nothing to do with Disney at all.Disney isnt, like any other major company who has hundreds of thousand of shareholders of all ethnic backrounds and religions is not going to fly a plane that says anything about Jesus especially since Bob Iger and Matt Quimet are both Jewish like alot of other Company Execs.

I saw it when I was there over New Year's. Wasn't offensive, just funny. I'm Catholic, but I do think that writing in the sky is a bit corny.

I have a couple of pics. One said "Turn to Jesus" and another--"U + God = :)" It was fun trying to figure out what the message would turn out to read.

Maybe just someone who got paid by a religious group. They want a lot of people to see it--and it works.
