First of all, I LOVE these books, they get a little weird sometimes, but I really like them They're funny and scary at the same time. Well, when I heard that they were making a movie about it, I was so excited. Well, I've just seen the trailer for it, and it looks aweful. Count Olaf who is a greedy evil villain in books, but Jim Carrey seems to be portraying him an evil hyper goof ball. I'm so mad. Any thoughts on this? Here's a link to the trailer:

My "Unfortunate Events" expert says he still wants to see the movie, although he thinks they've made Count Olaf less frightening so younger kids can watch.

The books are especially popular with 3rd & 4th graders.

Yes, I love the Series of Unfortunate Events books! I've only read the first two, and I am waiting to read the third one. They're really good, actually, and I'd recommend that anyone read them. :D

I looked at my earlier post, and realized that it might come across as meaning that these are strictly children's books!

I've found that a well -written "children's" book can be read and enjoyed by adults; a really good story has many different levels to it. I've found that I now see things in books I read as a child/teenager/young adult that I missed the first time around. I certainly find myself identifying with different characters now.
