Gonna be staying at AKL in May and trying to decide what to do about some groceries. I seem to remember that the hotel shops carry some food and perishables (I remember buying milk and doughnuts specifically) but can't remember what all they had or what the prices were like.

Anyone remember what the price of milk was like? Do they have fruit? Price?? what else do they typically carry. Just wondering if I should order some water and then just buy everything else at the hotel? thanks for the help. If anyone is there now, snap a couple pics of what they have.

I don't remember the food at the hotel shops. However, my family has groceries delivered to our resort and is ready for us at check-in.
Garden Grocer

Never had an issue. In the deliver field, you provide your name and check in date, then the address of your resort. Select the day that you arrive and ship.

Amazon prime works similarly.

The resort stores have a little of everything -- bread, bagels, milk, eggs, packaged cold cuts and cheese, frozen pizza, peanut butter, cereals, cookies, snack food, ice cream (Mickey Bars), soda, beer. You won't find a lot of variety - for instance, you may want Oreos and they only have Fig Newtons. No Pepsi products. They do have water. In the resorts with a DVC attached (like AKL), the variety is somewhat larger because there are kitchens in the units.

Garden Grocer is a great idea because you choose exactly the products you want. We find it works better for us as DVC members with a kitchen in the unit. But if you are just looking for some basics for your room, the resort store fits the bill.

Your best bet would be to try to dig up a copy of the DVC Grocery Order form for AKL to see what DVC owners can preorder from the store in the resort. That will show you what they should be stocking and the prices. If it is something you can buy in park or at a CS location, the cost at the store should be the same. IE a 20oz bottle of soda will still cost $2.59 (or whatever the going price is). As the fridge in a non DVC room is pretty small, you can't fit all that much stuff in it. I think that is why they usually only sell 1/2 gallons of milk as the full ones can't fit. Most of the perishable food (outside of bananas and apples) would be of the frozen meal variety, which won't do you much good without the kitchen in a DVC unit.

If you're going to order water anyways, you might as well do all of your groceries that way. Most (all?) of the delivery services charge a flat fee anyways, so you're not spending any extra by ordering more.

we're probably going to order from Amazon Prime pantry- which doesn't have perishables. That's why I'm wondering about cost of things like milk, fruit, etc. Thanks to all for the info. Only 13 days till we arrive.
