Anyone know the EXACT date MGM will become Hollywood?

Hello,

Does anyone know the exact date Disney MGM Studios will become Disney Hollywood Studios? According to the press release, it is January 2008.

I ask because I will be there for Christmas through to New Year, and wondered if the change would take place during my trip, which would be rather cool!

I think they might just gradually change things like signage and merchandise to be DHS, not all at once.

I guess that means that the next WDW DVD will be using the name Hollywood studios rather than MGM then.

Actually I think they are going to have everything changed over when they take down all the Holiday stuff. So I would guess the main brunt of it will be done by the 2nd weekend in Jan or so.

Meg Crofton announced that the name change could be effective January 2008. There is no single date as it will take time to change over.

What's about the sign for the enterance to Disney's Hollywood Studios and main gate to.

Just a guess, but I'd imagine all the major signage for Disney-MGM (arch, earful tower, park gates, etc) will disappear in early December and the easy-to-remove signage later that month. That is just a guess though as I'd imagine they need to removal all MGM references by the end of this year.

I'd think it'd be a gradual process of phasing references to MGM out. I just can't wait to see the new logo.

If you are referring to the vacation planning videos, they NEVER used "MGM". It has always been "The Disney Studios".

I heard somewhere that the name will officially change at the beginning of 2008.

If you are referring to the vacation planning videos, they NEVER used "MGM". It has always been "The Disney Studios".

They do say Disney-MGM Studios on the Magical Express Video
