Anyone know about a unbuilt mad house styled ride for sea named "Manhattan Midway Mania"

I recently discovered mad house styled rides after seeing a video of Efteling's "Villa Volta" so I searched google for more and came across the Wikipedia page for them here. Under cancelled installations it lists "Manhattan Midway's Madhouse" which was cancelled due to budget reasons.

I googled the name listed on Wikipedia and could not find anything besides a portfolio of a sculpture artist who has worked for Disney. She had three images listed with "Manhattan Midway Mania (never built.) You can see her site here and I will have the images below.

Has anyone heard of this attraction before and is there more known about it?

Here is Villa Volta at Efteling. According to the Wikipedia page Manhattan Midway Mania would have used the same ride manufacture.

This looks fun! Much better fit for Sea than a Frozen ride.

The original phase 2 for Tokyo DisneySea would have beefed up the NYC area of American Waterfront very nicely. Alas, capacity would have been atrocious for all 3 attractions. The Mad Houses in the S.S. Colombia were a pair of 40 seats mad house and those barely do 400 riders per hour each, 500 if running a short cycle. Motor Mania with its single track and 4 seater cars would have been another capacity nightmare. The last attraction, the Cops and Robbers Wild Mouses could have have had acceptable capacity at least, but challenging staffing wise.

OLC instead went with three different attractions in the NYC area. I figure Toy Story Mania and Toy Story Mania replaced Motor Mania and Cops and Robbers. The "adult coaster" slot was instead filled in 2005 in Lost River Delta with Raging Spirits, which was nicely shoehorned in between the Yucatan Base Camp Grill and Arabian Coast. Raging Spirits manufacturer's choice (Sansei) was quite daring, as Sansei struggled to deliver a rideable and fun coaster.

Compare that to today, with the redesigned restraints and what I suspect was nearly complete track replacement, along with magnetic brakes to slow down the trains before the two worst spots.

Seems like the wikipedia page mix two cancelled Tokyo Disney attractions. I spoke about the proposed phase 2 for Tokyo DisneySea here:

Motor Mania was the new dark ride, while the S.S. Columbia Showcase of Nautical Marvels was the proposed Mad Houses. I even found a concept art:

Fascinating read thank you (yes I’m late to the party again) - though ToT was always planned for TDS as opposed to being a later thought.

fantastic read, great job!
Makes me miss the days when WDI actually came up with non-IP ideas, they were great!

Interesting to me they had a Mr. Toad style attraction planned that DIDN'T have any of the Wind in the Willows characters. Were Japanese audiences familiar with the movie at all?

I honestly feel like Frozen as an IP actually fits the park quite well unlike Tangled and Neverland to be honest, but I’m very pleased they went in the direction they did. The park now has its Fantastland—and an unreal one at that—without comrposming existing park areas. It’s its own thing.
SEA to me is a place inhabited by humans. A cartoon land feels unfitting. So even ocean toons, such as Ariel.

That FS is, and had to be, its 'own thing' is a sign of weakness, not of strength. The whole of a theme park ought to be greater than the sum of its parts, with individual aspects all reinforcing one another. Park dynamics aside, I'd rather FS had an entrance through DL Fantasyland, which might even be a shorter walk.

That aside, SEA and FS pretty much get a free pass because of sheer quality. Mermaid is a visually striking area, and is easily accepted as being an area for kids, something the park is short on. And, like DL Galaxy's Edge, yes, if FS doesn't fit properly, it doesn't distract too much from the rest of the park either.
