We are getting ready to start planning our 2008 trip and I am surprised that the Halloween Horror Nights website hasn't been updated yet. Still has the Carnival of Carnage. We are only 4 months away. Anyone have any clue as to when they will release the dates for HHN 18?
I could have sworn that last year, info was posted a lot earlier.

Usually it's around the end of May that the dates are posted and the site is updated with a teaser. But from their audition page, we can assume the nights will be:

September 26, 27

October 2-5, 9-12, 16-20, 22-26, 29-31

November 1

And that the event will again be at the Studios, with 8 houses, the Rocky Horror Tribute show, Bill & Ted show, and a show in the Hollywood section.

Thanks, I was hoping to go this year as well. I went to last year's and had a blast, so I can't wait to see what the theme is this year.

Last I heard there were four themes they had planned for this year: Night of The Living Dead (40th anniversary this year), instead of having Jack return again he would make way for Jill, SAW, and another theme I can't remember.

Saw was put out by Lions Gate while Night of the Living Dead was put out by Image Ten. Universal has the rights to neither of them.

I hope we get a HHN themed to the old Universal monsters, that'd be great.

Universal had a very nice contract in place for the New Line characters.

Obviously. You think that if Universal themselves would send an e-mail out to their fans about what the final four themes could be for HHN this year that they don't have contracts in place? Interesting...

Thanks to public record, and Mark James over at the HHNVault, here are
the house names/locations for HHN 18 as per CityofOrlando.net:

"Creatures" in SS22
"The Hallow" in Sprung Tent
"Dead Exposure" in Sprung Tent
"Scary Tales 3" in Parade Building (behind Barney)
"Body Collectors 2" in SS20
"Interstellar Terror" in SS20
"Doomsday" in Disaster Queue
"Bloody Mary" in Jaws Queue

Interesting to note that they are not using SS23 this year, but are
instead using SS20. I believe this is probably because of the coaster
construction.

Surprisingly they are using Disaster's queue, instead of Herc/Xena as
we had anticipated. Also, there doesn't seem to be an overall theme,
so we may not have an icon this year.

I'm looking forward to The Hallow, Scary Tales and Bloody Mary. Body
Collectors has a real good chance for greatness since it'll be in a
soundstage.

I've never been opening night, but I can say from my experience that the earlier you go, the better the crowds are. I always try to go within the first couple of week of October because it gets insanely crowded after that. Also, if you can swing a weekday, they're a lot more tolerable than Friday and Saturday.

The second week is, traditionally, the best weekend to go. The first weekend is packed and the casts are still developing their characters. The second weekend is not as crowded and the casts have discovered the best way to scare (barring some managerial shift in house procedures).

It looks like there is some potential in this year. I'm surprised they are bringing back Body Collectors, especially considering how it was originally integrated into the Terra Cruentes story.

This is slightly off the original topic, but what was Body Collectors? I've been to HHN probably too many times but I missed a year in the middle (and the beginnings since I was too young) but I can't place it, if it was there when I went.

If I remember correctly, in 2005 HHN incoorporated the realm of Terra Cruentes into HHN. Walking into IoA and turning left, you would literally follow the story of the Terra Queen and her sacrifices. The Body Collectors were located in the JP Discovery Center (home of the original PsychoScareapy). It was a sort of processing plant for bodies and, from my understanding (I didn't go that year), was the highlight of the event that year.

And 2005 would the year I missed haha. Thanks for the info :)
