I never went to that island in Magic Kingdom and wasn't planning on it for our next trip either but then I read that they have a little snack place there called Aunt Polly's Dockside Inn which may make it a perfect spot for a small lunch before our big dinner at Liberty Tree later in the night.

Anyone have any pictures or impressions of Aunt Polly's Dockside Inn? Or maybe some thoughts on the island itself?

Also.. I heard that the Inn isnt always open.. I wonder if it is open in December? I'm going to Disney World in the first week of December.

Just to beat Thrawn to his standard reply..

If you search on Google there are several pictures and descriptions. However, I have never been there myself. Now I am curious to go! I hope someone here has been and can offer you more insight.

Since tomorrow is a holiday I won't be in the office, maybe I'll stop by for lunch! Sounds like a cute little sandwich shop with a nice view of The Haunted Mansion.

They used to have cold sandwiches at great prices. They were very good but I heard they only have snack food now. I used to eat lunch over there all the time then feed the birds and ducks that were always watching your every move. It's very quiet and secluded.

A root beer float from Aunt Polly's looking over at the Haunted Mansion and perhaps the Liberty Belle is quite a WDW experience! Very limited food choices there... But for a refreshing respite from a hectic MK day, I say "yay!"

Tom Sawyer's Island is a wonderful spot many MK visitors skip.

It is the perfect place for young children to rejuvinate themselves with some unstructured running around time.

It is woodsy and a respite from asphalt and bright colors.

At Aunt Polly's there are these very comfortable rocking chairs that overlook the water. A perfect place to take a break and have some ice cream. However, you must also be on the look out for the famous "aggressive birds of WDW".

Although it isn't prime viewing, you can see parts of the parade. We are not big parade people, and sitting and seeing part of it worked just fine for me when the alternative is standing and waiting for an hour, then dealing with extremely rude people who insist on cutting in front of you.

About 10 years ago the menu included cold fried chicken, ham sandwiches, apple pie, and ice cream. The real food is gone, and I think the pie is as well, but you can get ice cream and drinks.

I try to always get a Coke float from Aunt Polly's. It is a great place to people watch.

As for lunch... No. Unless your ideal lunch consists of ice cream and/or root beer floats.

It wasn't open during normal operating hours when I was there earlier this month. I think that it's normally closed in December because of the numbing Florida cold
