What part of Dinasour is broken? Also why wouldnt you go back to sea world Im going there for the first time in Oct and your making me nervous ha ha
What if I said there used to be dinosaurs that actually jumped over your jeep? Or the aerial bird used to fly and swoop at you? Or there used to be lasers? And huge bursts of strobe lights in thick smoke at entry and exit?

Are you saying we should set the Yeti on fire?
Actually, having King Kong go up in flames was one of the best things to ever happen to Universal in Hollywood. The old King Kong attraction on the backlot tour was old, outdated, and in much need of an overhaul. Many parts of the backlot soundstages were in bad shape and needing an update. When the fire happened, USH (with the aid of damages insurance, of course) was able to build Kong 360, one of the most high-tech 4D attractions, as well as upgrade many of the backlot sets to a new & improved state. So setting the old Kong on fire....I mean...having that "completely accidental" fire which destroyed the old Kong building was a blessing for USH.

Wow, Dinosaur is literally one of my absolute favorite rides in all of Orlando and I never saw these effects minus the strobe lights and thick smoke at the end (I think that is always there). I think that is the problem... I didn't start going to the parks until about 5 years ago and I guess those effects have been down this long. So new riders don't know how great some attractions were and when they ride them in their lesser state TDO figures... these people coming off seem impressed and happy we don't need to keep the ride in working order....

This totally bums me out and I almost feel like I've been duped...

blah.

Oh it's a quite obvious difference if you've seen all the effects working. Too bad things don't stay maintained 100 percent.

Whats sad is that even with all the effects working, Dinosaur is still a majorly budget cut attraction (don't get me wrong, I still love it, but you can tell that the money ran out at about the third scene). Its laughable that most of these effects are probably relatively easy to fix, and Disney maint. just won't do it.

They didn't technically jump over you, right? It's been so long since I've seen them but I seem to remember it was more of a light up of each individual dinosaur as you passed under neath them.

The pteranodon swoop wasn't real impressive either, if I remember correctly. It was more of a loud noise, spotlight, and then about 35 degrees of movement. It being stationery is not a big change, in my opinion.

The lasers, strobe light, and smoke are all missed though. Now it's kind of like the SM launch and ending. Lots of colored lights, not much else.

Regardless, all of this makes me sad because Indy in DL has so many far superior effects, themeing, and staging, it makes it hard to enjoy Dinosaur properly after riding it. I'm constantly thinking of what could have been.

Edit: I think I should make it clear that, despite the appearance given off by my above post, that I actually love Dinosaur, the idea, and everything that comes with it. Love the Dinosaur Institute, etc. I just wish it could be plussed a little bit to make it that much better.

I'm sorry that most will disagree with me, but I'd gladly welcome back the Eisner management team.

For all his faults, Eisner's team made sure the Parks were immaculate at all times and that all attractions were working the way in which they were designed to work.

Can anyone figure out why this management team seems to have such little regard for maintenance and plussing of the Parks?

What faults? I can't believe most will disagree with you because it's obvious Eisner ran the parks better than current management. So, I agree with you.

Heading for the great escape.
Its hard to tell whats broken with Dinosaur mainly cause theres no lights working.

As for Eisner, he started believing his own PR and surrounded himself with weak yes men execs, that is a recipe for disaster and for eroding any legacy.

Dinosaur is the equivalent of riding a mechanical bull in the dark while listening to a loud audio track of "Not our dino. Let's get out of here" and some annoyingly loud screams. It's pretty amazing that a ride as fantastic as Indy is, uses the exact same system.

Wow! I never knew that. We've ridden it a couple of times but it's not on our list for this summer. To me, it just seems to be a jerky jeep and tons of noise. Wish I could have seen it when it was in its prime. I did get to see A mode Yeti, though, so I guess that's something...

Ya we all love disney, but come on I agree! they need to keep up with the refurbs. Disney better wake up(and I think they are) thanks to potter. potter has made great competition and I am glad!

Here is the thing - they have a hard time doing extended refurbs at WDW because of guest expectations, etc., supposedly, *BUT*...if they kept up regular maint like it seems Universal is doing, rides wouldn't NEED to be refurbed for months at a time.

If you let the paint rot on your house for 25 years, it's going to be a much bigger job to scrape and repaint the whole thing than if you just did touch-ups every few years and paid attention to the upkeep.
