As most know, Dudley Do Rip Saw Falls at IOA had a fire back in January.

But recently it has reopened, but not only that, Universal actually took the time and refurbished and brought back long lost effects.

But it doesn't end there. I believe the water vortex at Poseidon's Fury was reactivated last year, and they even decided to reopen Triceratops Encounter as a seasonal attraction.

What I'm getting here is that Universal lately has started bring back long broken effects. Why can't Disney do the same?

After all, there's still, pterosaurs, compies and and a Yeti waiting.

Honestly, when I went this week, not to bash Disney or anything, but everything worked in pretty much tip top shape at Universal despite much lower attendance than Disney. At WDW there were numerous glaring defects in the attractions and overall presentation.

Also the cast members at Universal were much more friendly and reminded me more of the DL CM's. At WDW you could sense that the employees were not getting the benefits/respect they deserved and were basically being taken advantage off. Just an objective observation. Several people "welcomed me home" and told me to have a magical day in a less than pleasant tone.

Ever since Potter opened, Universal has really stepped up their game as far as maintenance goes.

I don't want to definitely say they're doing better maintenance and upkeep than Disney, but, well, currently its rare to ride something at Disney and not notice something broken, and its much more rare to experience something broken... lately.

Even Imhotep at RoTM has worked on my last several visits!

Yep, and the employees at Universal are just noticably much more amicable. I overhead three WDW workers all complaining in agreement about not having enough time to get lunch.

I'm sorry that most will disagree with me, but I'd gladly welcome back the Eisner management team.

For all his faults, Eisner's team made sure the Parks were immaculate at all times and that all attractions were working the way in which they were designed to work.

Can anyone figure out why this management team seems to have such little regard for maintenance and plussing of the Parks?

A Universal employee a few years ago was recognised for his efforts in bringing in an effects check list that would be monitored, updated, passed to 3rd shift and acted upon.

Since then it is official policy to ensure as many effects - no matter how small - are working as much as possible. And it shows.

And WDW gets the Yeti, Dinosaur, SSE... even burnt out bulbs on the Space Mountain lift signs....

Disneylands upkeep was like a breath of fresh air.

Ya we all love disney, but come on I agree! they need to keep up with the refurbs. Disney better wake up(and I think they are) thanks to potter. potter has made great competition and I am glad!

While i love both Universal and Disney, AND happen to be a theme park junkie that will visit Six flags and Cedar Fair parks...i do put Uni and Disney on a much higher level. I expect alot more out of those two, and while I too have seen much more effort at Universal Orlando as of recent, WDW is dropping the ball. SOME things are being fixed, repainted, etc. But there are still many glaring issues. I know nobody's perfect, and stuff happens and there's only so much money in the budget to do refurbishments, but WDW just seems to be behind in upkeep.

Forgot to mention, there's been a lot of complaints on "EDIT: That one orlando related site this site seems to hate so they censor it out :lookaroun" that the Hulk's coloring was getting rusty, but guess what? Universal was actually repainting it lately.

Guess Potter did help.

While I love Disney more than US/IOA, US has made more of an effort lately. We had a bad experience at US a few years ago. Management sent us new tickets with perks we didn't have the first time and it was better when we went back about a year later. Disney was really great years ago. We go at least once a year and every year, we are coming home with more and more negative exp stories :( Most of the time, it's CMs or management problems, like being left sitting at BB because a driver didn't want to load a WC on an empty bus and the next bus didn't show up for more than 90MIN(!!!!!).

We've cancelled our usual week+ stay this summer since we are buying a house. I will honestly say I am more disappointed in missing US/IOA.

Now, Sea World is a different story and it will be a LONG TIME before we go back to that horrid place again

Six Flags is also doing much better maintaning their attractions. They just spent quite a bit of money re-tracking two huge classic coasters (Texas Giant and the Rattler.) Cedar Fair is also doing a lot to maintain their rides and keep them working in good shape.

I think Universal said "Disney decided to refurbish the Tiki Room because it caught on fire, we can do that too! Bob, set a match over there where people can't get hurt"...:hammer:

At least Disney is taking the time to at least refurbish, maybe bring back the original Tiki show, but if Disney needs an attraction to catch on fire to show how badly shaped it's in, let's do that to Stitch and Sounds Dangerous while we're at it :)

I am curious as well. Sea World is a relaxing park and unless its peak season, the rides and shows are usually a walk-on/in. I can't imagine what would make it a horrible experience...

I know you're joking, but Dudley Do-Right caught on fire first.
