Anyone else who loves Adventureland most?

Since my first visit to the World in 1982 Adventureland was and stayed my favorite land in the MK. But IMHO it lost a lot in the last 20 years, with the only real addition since PotC in the 70ies! being a, sorry folks, mediocre dumbo-clone which not only made the once much more spacious central square overcrowded but also brought an additional touch (Arabia) that doesn't fit to the already surrounding theming at all because there are know to much different styles on a too small area.

Then there was the Tiki Room with it's "new management" which completely spoiled a classic attraction (and Walts favorite btw), a refurb of PoTC that was decent but not exactly a major change and..well that's it. In more than 30 years only one minor attraction was added that doesn't even fit in properly plus one refurb of a major attraction and one "plussed" by destroying it virtually.
The JC is of course still a classic and I love it but it is becoming outdated and that cannot be compensated by the skippers becoming more louder and annoying (the last 2 rides on JC were terrible, they were shouting all the way).
And even Carribean Plaza which had a nice well "Carribean" feeling with it's steeldrum bands was turned into a shop.

So I get to the conclusion that Adventureland seems to be the least favorite land in MK, at least concerning the management and imagineers, with no major addition in more than 3 decades!. As I love it I would like to know if most of you also consider AL a more secondary land that is not worth caring about or if you share my opinion, that it is perhaps the land with the most atmospheric immersion in all of MK and deserves a better treatment or even a Fire Mountain.

I must admit that Adventureland holds little appeal for me beyond PotC. My daughter always likes to climb the Tree House and go on the Jungle Cruise, and we always take a look around for the general ambiance, but I prefer to spend a greater amount of time in other areas of the MK.

Sure, it's fallen behind some of the other lands. One addition - DL's Indiana Jones ride - would have been enough to prevent that.

I'm torn.

Adventureland is always the first "land" we head to and I love PotC along with the Jungle Cruise...and of course Dole Whips! But it does feel as though it has been slightly neglected when compared to the rest of the park.

I'm not certain how much room for expansion there is over there anyway. Other than removing existing attractions and adding new ones could they really do much else...other than gut the Tiki Room and blow up the Magic Carpets?

Adventureland remains my favorite and I actually like the Carpets ride and the Agrabah section. If you can have a theme park that goes from European village one moment and city of the future the next, there shouldn't be any problem with going from lush tropical jungle village to Agrabah.
I agree though that it could use an update. With girls getting a Fantasyland make-over, I say it's time the boys get something out of Adventureland.

I love Adventureland... While Pirates and Jungle Cruise are not my most favourite rides at WDW, Adventureland is my favourite land.. The ambiance, the background music, the theme and architecture of Adventureland just does it for me. I really like Adventureland.

Lots of Disney Movies could be applied to Adventureland: Peter Pan, Mulan, Hercules, Up (Disney Pixar), Jungle Book, Aladdin etc... Perhaps Disney will base a new attraction off of one of those movies, or something down the road.... Perhaps an Adventurer's Club sort of attraction..?

I don't think rides and attractions at WDW should change every 1 to 5 years... Even the same ride, if it's of good quality should be able to last 10 to 20 (BTMRR, Space Mountain, PeterPan, TOT)... with a few maintenance upgrades along the way. I do agree that Adventureland could use a new attraction.

Other than Pirates, AL is the one land I think I can say I spend the least amount of time in. Usually I'm just walking through. I think fire mountain would be an amazing addition even though, honestly, I'm not 100% sure what it is. I remember reading stuff about it, and from what I read it sounds cool and would be great to add another mountain to WDW's MK. But I doubt it will happen, if so, anytime soon as it was rumored years ago I believe.

I really enjoy walking through Adventure especially at night. I enjoy the ambiance there. I might not spend a lot of time there but i really enjoy walking through it.

I can't say I prefer Adventureland to all the other lands (like picking between siblings ) but it's certainly up there with Frontierland/Liberty Square and Tomorrowland as my favorites. The exoticism, calypso music, the bright colors, and tiki decor is VERY appealing... especially at night. There's also a certain romance for the days when the world had not been fully mapped, when the jungle was still dark and mysterious, and the promise of a new discovery was always somewhere deeper in the wilderness.

Also, just a design observation I love which may merely be coincidental (but I doubt it ;)), is that when you are walking through Adventureland, you have the buildings of a village on one side, and jungle to the other... as if we the park guests are literally walking the line between civilization and the great unknown.

Enchanting. :D

I am a frontier land guy all the way. With splash and thunder its hard to compete. Adventure land is my next favorite but the OP is right, it does need an addition.

Enchanting is such a great word for it. I love walking through Adventureland at night. For us, it's not always about which rides each land has to offer, but the ambiance. I love getting some warm cinnamon nuts, listening to the BGM and watching people go by.

Well I think a common idea is that Adventureland is home of what many consider the best ride at MK (Pirates). There just simply isn't enough room to expand to anything else. Jungle Cruise takes up a lot of space and they will never do anything else with that, nor should they

Erm..wrong. I don't want to say it's name because some people would say "don't mention it AGAIN" but there where very elaborated plans for a major E-Ticket morphing rollercoaster named .... Mountain in Adventureland that would have been built outside the berm and would have been accessed through the gap between PotC and JC. I have to confess, there is NO planned attraction for the World existing that I wish more to be finally built than this one because it combines several elements I love, Polynesian theming, volcano etc. "No place left" is NOT an excuse for not expanding Adventureland because it would have been really huge and was nearly ready for official anouncement when...yes when IOA completely failed to have any impact on the Worlds visitors attendance.

Adventureland and Frontierland are definitely my favorites. I like AL at night also...it's great during a parade you can just stroll thru. Frontierland tho is the best place for rides. Do you consider HM in frontierland or is Liberty square a whole entity in itself since DL doesn't have one? just curious.

I agree, Adventureland and Frontierland are my favorites. I would love to see something added to Adventure Land especially. The Indiana Jones ride in DL looks fantastic and I would absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE to see something from UP put in there. The whole theory of "Adventure is Out There!" and South America would fit perfectly in there.

Liberty Square is and was always considered a seperate land with the two attractions HoP and HM.

Magic Kingdom Tradition

my wife and i have to start each WDW trip with a Dole Whip right smack in Adventureland. there is something about sitting down on one of the benches there and watching people pass as we are devouring our first Dole Whips of the trip.

it might sound silly to some people, but the "Dole Whip" really gets my wife and i in vacation mode. when we have a Dole Whip in our hand, it means that we are finally here!

I love Adventureland...at Disneyland. Even though Disneyland is a tighter fitted park, it packs more attractions in.

And Indiana Jones...is there another ride quite as exciting that Disney World lost out on? I'm sorry, but Dinosaur pales in comparison by far. I've always hoped to someday see an Indy ride brought to the Magic Kingdom...and as for Fire Mountain...that would've been amazing! It's tough nowdays to get my friends to go with me to MK. They all feel it's too 'kiddy and stale'. Something like the Indy ride or Fire Mountain would probably have gotten their attention.
