Anyone else sick of the "Harmonizing Chorus?"

It seems like in every Magic Kingdom show or parade since the early 90s, the music uses what I call the "harmonizing chorus" and it usually starts when the ensemble dancers come out. Don't know what I'm talking about? Listen to the chorus section during the finale of Fantasmic, that's basically the sound I'm referring to.

So is anyone else tired of it? I honestly can't stand it. Every time I hear it, I really cringe.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. It's a little bit... cute. :lol: Sometimes I play I'll play some of the in-park soundtracks for my classical music-loving friends (they love the Illuminations soundtrack), but I'm always a bit embarassed when it gets to what you're talking about. I think it's a sound I've come to associate with Disney, though.

I am far more embarassed when I hear them try to do "hip" or "cool" like Move It, Shake It or the new HS parade soundtrack. It's just always a painful miss with me... I will definetly take harmonized choruses over that.

Actually, I agree. The crummy "hip" music actually makes me appreciate the harmonizing chorus which is really saying somthing. :lol:

I guess I'd just like to see an entirely new sound for the show music.

^Wow, what a video showcasing the aesthetic changes the parks have seen! Fountain of Nations with no stage, the Chinese Theater with no hat, old Tomorrowland spires, old Frontierland station, the hub has trees, America Gardens has no roof...talk about a blast from the past!

As far as the harmonizing chorus, I agree its gotten a bit much over the years, but what else do you expect from Disney? :lol: I think its more a case in how it is utilized; Tapestry of Nations relied on a chorus yet struck a very differnt tone from something like the above Easter video or the end of Fantasmic.

WOW! What an extravagant commercial! It's amazing how so much of the emphasis was placed on the in-park character, like with the Hollywood stars and starlets in D-MGM, and the Main Street cast, the Azalea Trail maids, and saloon girls in the MK, with the fab 5 very much taking a back seat.

That was part of the huge problem with Tapestry of Dreams... this "cute" harmonizing chorus (and everything else that they "cutened" up for the parade).

Disney loves that auto-tuned sound, and makes it work, although in pop culture, it's become completely overused (see: Glee).

I do wish we'd get a return to the days when a lot more of the in park vocals (in castle shows and whatnot) were live.

My family loves it, the harmonizing is specail and a great sound.

Let be honest here, most of the pop artists and song writers today have little or no real musical talent, and are carried along by the video effects. They certainty could carry a harmonizing number.

Compared to Paris, Anaheim and Tokyo I find Orlandos original music in general more often or not is the most sugar coated and kiddy-style.

Can you see Blazing Rhythms or Need Magic? played in WDW?

I agree. It is part of the WDW experience. What would the US section of WS be without the Voices of Liberty and the harmonious soundtrack for its attraction? If you have ever been in MK when there was a complete change from the usual music, you would find it a bit disorienting. I felt so strange when I chaperoned Grad Nite 2008.

To me that is the sound of Disney, I love it. :lol: But yeah I would probably kill someone if I had to hear that kind of music in my everyday life, but at Disney it works.
