Hi. I really wanted to make it to Disney this summer (August), but we won't be able to make it for many different reasons...
1. Money
2. We're expecting and I don't want to go to Disney pregnant.

I know I'm going to be so jealous watching friends (on social media) going to Disney with their families this summer, but also living vicariously through them, because I truly enjoy seeing all the pictures friends post from vacations... Especially Disney!
With that being said, we are planning on going next August and it's driving me crazy! I have the itch now (and we just went this past February)... Anyone else on the same boat as I am? What are you doing to literally pass this time?? I looked at the thread that asks "How many days for you" and I refuse to count the days because I will just cry!! Lol
Plus, I keep pricing out what our trip MAY cost us next year on various websites... The addiction is real! Ha

Please tell me I'm not the only one...

We skipped... well, it will have been 2 1/2 years by the time we return in November 2016.

Passing the time has been pretty easy so far. Number one, I've been keeping abreast of what's going on through these boards and other sources, and all that has done is emphasize that: (1) there'd be nothing new to do if we went now; and (2) there would actually be a lot LESS to do, because so many attractions, especially at HS, have been closed since we were at WDW last -- meanwhile, the cost to visit (e.g., room costs, park tickets) has risen substantially. So in this case, staying informed has made me feel better about not avoiding Disney for awhile, rather than whetting my appetite to go.

Second, and most importantly, we planned other, non-Disney vacations that we could look forward to in the meantime. We took a week-long, on-the-cheap family roadtrip to several historical sites and museums, and had a ball. Planning the route and logistics of that trip occupied many happy days and weeks ahead of time! A few months later, we took an inexpensive cruise to the Bahamas from a nearby port, which also gave us several months' worth of anticipation and planning to enjoy.

Now, the decks are cleared and I can start planning and looking forward to our November 2016 trip, seven months away, and that's fine by me -- I can make this last for seven months. :) Then, in the fall of 2017, DH and I are planning a week-and-a-half in Scotland (which, incidentally, will cost us little more than a weeklong family trip to WDW, which should give some indication of how high Disney pricing has gotten...)

YES!! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PREGNANCY, THAT'S AMAZING!!! AND HOW wonderful it will be to go back to Disney with a little one in tow and show them all the magic for the first time!! Like you, we have WAY too many days until our next trip, we aren't going back until 2018, so an even LONGER wait for us. We had a marvelous time last Christmas (I'll get my trip report up soon). I haven't written my TR yet, because I've been super busy planning this wedding of ours for the end of June! That sucks all our money this year, and then we are saving for Aulani in the Spring of 2017. That's an expensive trip, so DisneyWorld won't be until 2018. By that time, hopefully the groom's parents will have moved from snowy Vermont to Orlando (where they've dreamed about for decades) and can join us using their Annual passes. :);):arghh::hungry: So anyway, I do know how you feel. Just looking forward to all the exciting adventures in the next couple of years!

Also, I'm already saving money for Aulani and DisneyWorld again. With each paycheck, I put a little aside on a Disney gift card and then I won't feel so ovewhelmed when I get the bill at Aulani or DisneyWorld, especially having the gift cards and knowing how much we can afford to spend. We did register on: www.disneyhoneymoonwishes.com for Aulani,so that will help us, too! Too bad they don't have a baby registry, yet for Disney :) Everyone needs a Disney onesie!:p:D:D:D

I won't be going until 2017 because band only goes every four years. It's going to be a hassle because of construction (We'll be there two weeks before Avatar even opens, so close ) but I know my way around well enough to enjoy it. Everyone is excited to go to Hollywood Studios, and I'm just thinking about how fast I can get everything done there so I can jet to AK!

i'm waiting too! I was last there in September 2015 and going again in september 2017. Mainly money is the reason and my friend is going to New York this year so can't really afford to go to the US twice in one year. But I will be booking my trip at the end of the money on payday as UK gets free dining :)

We are not going until 2017. We are skipping a year. 2015 we had 3 week long trips. We wanted to wait for the next wave of new things to be complete: Frozen, Avatar, RoL, and others. 2017 may still be out of the question though.

OP, no you are not alone. We are going February 18 - 25 in 2017 and I'm starting to get a little concerned about my growing obsession with researching this, that and the other thing. LOL :joyfull::joyfull:
How do I cope with this obsession you ask? Why, I read every single thread and post in the Trip Planning forum and learn, learn, learn. We have a teacher in our group so we had to pick Feb 18-25 but we will make it work. If you have any suggestions on when to buy our tickets online for Disney/Universal Islands of Adventure/Typhoon Lagoon, feel free to advise. I was thinking this September so I have plenty time to make ADRs at a couple parks.
Congratulations on new baby!!:angelic:

Thanks for your lovely response.... I would suggest buying tickets as soon as you can bc you never know when the prices are going to go up. Are you staying on Disney property? Which hotel? Are you going to buy your tickets through Disney? We always buy our tickets on undercovertourist.com - We've used this website many times and they are reputable and reliable. It may save you upwards of $100 depending on how many tickets you need and I always get the e-tickets and I can apply it to my MDE (My Disney Experience). You will have a blast going in February. We went in early Febraury and although it was a little bit cooler than we would have liked, we were at the happiest place on earth and nothing was going to put a damper on our vacation there.

Hi DiSnEyF@n. I was going to buy park tickets either on the Disney site or OTC. Thanks for sharing the link - savings sound good :)
So does getting e-tickets and applying it to the MDE app. So glad to hear February was a good experience for you. We're from Canada so Orlando February weather is likely a warm summer day to us :hilarious:
I still have to learn about MDE and linking all five of us on the app so we can book Fast Pass+ for same riides. And I know nothing about Magic Bands.
We're staying in a condo in the Runaway Beach Club in Kissimmee, about 4 miles from the parks. We are doing some other things and preferred to have a quiet home base. Only one in our group wanted to stay in Disney and she was over-ruled rather early on :D

If you can only do summer, then I'd skip. Heat, large crowds, and openings of new offerings (e.g. Rivers of Light) are hit or miss. If you can do fall, then I say go for it. By that time, crowds will be down, the weather will be more pleasant, and all the new offerings for 2016 should be open. If you wait until 2017, you'll have all those things plus Avatar Land.

If we did not live 20 minutes from WDW we would be in the same boat as the rest of you. But we cannot resist the force of WDW it's a powerful one we have 3 more trips this year and just booked our 1st 2017 trip.
